| The aircraft we operate is a four-seat Cessna 172. The C-172 is legendary for its reliability and stellar safety record. Our airplane is a step above it's standard brethern. Options found on our airplane not found on the standard Cessna Skyhawk are a larger, more powerful Franklin engine, a constant-speed propeller as opposed to the fixed pitch propeller found on most models. Constant-speed propellers are propellers that can change thier pitch in flight to take better advantage of the power provided by the engine. This is very similar to the way that a transmission in a car takes advantage of its power source. And finally, a Horton S.T.O.L. (Short Take Off and Landing) kit. This option affects the aerodynamics of the wing itself. The kit increases the airplanes maximum payload and greatly improves the airplanes performance during the take-off and landing phases of flight.
