| Field Maintenance Joe Kaskey reported that will be moving the mower to his business garage as soon as he is able to get a truck for the purpose, and will perform the winter maintenance on the mower. Several members volunteered to help Joe get the mower in the truck as soon as he is able to get to the field. Joe also reported on the soil test he had performed on the field. The soil has a nitrogen deficiency and too high of a ph level according to the test results. The club also discussed the annual rolling and continued the discussion on the use of a much larger construction grade roller machine for the job. It was discussed that such a roller could cost $385 or more to use for the day. Consistent with prior discussions by the club, it was decided that we would attempt to only rent and use the roller following a decent amount of rain, and therefore we needed to be flexible in announcing the annual field maintenance day. We hope to hold the maintenance day on a Saturday in April and will let everyone know via e-mail. Electric Airplane Tech Workshop The February meeting included a wonderful presentation on electric flight technology by Glen from Strictly RC. Glen walked the club through some of the choices for choosing an electric motor and explained the relationship between amps, watts and volts. Glen also showed the club some of the latest planes available for electric power and displayed two helicopters designed for electric use. We had some great discussions with Glen and learned about the importance of balancing separate cells in lithium polymer battery packs and how new batteries are coming with separate cell taps for the purpose. The club thanks Glen for providing this very informative session. Show and Tell President Mike finished off the electric demonstration by showing off his latest Shockflyer electric that he plans on flying in the dome. Ted returned for the final installment of his scratch built flying wing project with the completed craft on display.
