ALL money (registrations, dues, activity fees, food, etc.) must be
recorded and tracked even if it “passes directly through” your troop.
For example, you collect $5 from
every parent at the start of a field trip and promptly hand it over to the
group conducting the activity. You MUST
record the income of that money and the expense of paying the group in your
troop’s finance records even though you technically never deposited the money
in the checking account.
Money that is collected in
advance of an activity should be deposited promptly, never stored as cash in a
home for any length of time and never mixed with personal funds.
