Religion of Naruta

As stated in the history, the world was created by the Elements. Since the elements aren't manifest in any way, shape, or form, other than the world itself, they are not revered as gods, but are given tribute in the elemental chants used to summon the innate power found in each elemental. Although there are no 'gods' in Naruta, the Forces are worshipped as such. Each Force has its own 'home' - although they are never found in these homes. These are places where their influence is felt greatest, and where a great temple is constructed in their honor. Each Force, although rarely ever seen, has a distinct personality, their own unique effect on the lands that are their 'home', and their own favored symbols which are found universally in all temples that pay tribute to the Forces. Every temple, no matter where it is located, honors each of the Forces - to do otherwise is to invite the wrath of the Force and their followers. However, certain cities that revere a particular Force over others may design their temples to feature their favored Force as the center piece of their creation, or they may make a secondary temple in complete devotion to that Force.

The time that most Narutians go wandering around the world is when they embark upon a spiritual pilgrimage called a Force Quest. This is a time when an individual goes out in the world, putting their faith in a chosen Force, and attempts to find the said Force. Almost always these trips are unsuccessful for any number of reasons, but it is said that the journey is what makes it so spiritual, not actually finding the goal.

NOTE: The Earth types have a very special religious code. It goes as thusly:  All life is created equal. The earth mother is mother to all and as such loves all creations equally, it matters not whether they are clear or earth elemental, or even mammal or insect for that matter. There isn't strict taboo against killing in necessity, but one must take into account the amount of damage they are creating and ask themselves if it is worth it. Also, the symbol is a gift of the earth mother, so only use it in necessity, no going out to impress the ladies with a 6 on the rictor scale ya know? They are not a utopian society but they try to stay pacifists... to the point that they are almost secluded in their mountain, thus the dragon's quest.

Efil

The Force of Life prefers to take a womanly form in various stages of life, be it a young child to a very elderly person. Efil has compassion for all living things and abhors any form of violence or killing. She favors the Water elementals, for only they have the ability to create a curative liquid with their abilities, and the Wind elementals for their pacifist nature. Efil's home, Acoia, is untouched by sickness and disease, and all of its inhabitants live for an abnormally long lifespan, half as much more as the average Narutian.

Rumors/Myths: The High Priest of Efil knows the location of a 'fountain of youth'.

Taed

The Force of Death prefers to take a masculine form, sometimes as a living being, other times as a gaunt skeleton, a zombie, a ghost, or a vampire. He doesn't favor any of the elementals in particular, but has been known to show particular interest in certain warlike towns and clans and other organizations that pay the most tribute to him in the blood of their enemies. The home of Taed, Athrug, is a dark and gloomy place, virtually lifeless as most of its naturally born citizens die from various causes at an early age. Rather than being a place to inhabitant, the Home of Taed is often times used as a large battleground, and still bears the scars from wars of the past.

Rumors/Myths: Somewhere in Taed's Shrine in Athrug is a way to the underworld where spirits reside.

Worg

The Force of Growth often takes a female form, but with masculine undertones (like an Amazon woman), though her current gender is often concealed under a thick layer of vines and other vegetation. Worg shows particular favoritism in the Earth and Beast types, but expresses interest in Ice and Storm as well, since they were not original elements and most likely sprung from her influence on the original mortals, along with Soahc. Her home, Autus, is nothing short of a giant garden-city. All of the inhabitants seem to grow up taller or stronger than most people, jokingly referred to as "Worg's Giants".

Thuoth

The Force of Thought takes no preference to either female or male, appearing as one or the other in equal amount, causing it to be displayed as genderless and asexual most of the time. Although the Mind elementals are a result of its work, it doesn't appear to care any more for them than the other elementals. Rather, Thuoth pays great heed to the scholars and philosophers of the world. Its home, Mentis, is actually a city-large temple (shaped much like the Parthenon for reference) where great libraries and debate halls are found.

Rumors/Myths: The most devoted followers will someday learn the secrets of the Elements.

Soahc

The Force of Change usually takes the form of a man, though delights in randomly switching between genders without warning, simply to keep whoever he is meeting with off-guard. Soahc has no particular love for any of the elementals or any organization. Although he also bears no hatred, he does enjoy watching the rise and collapse of things. Soahc's home, Flux, has a very unique trait; typically, only the inhabitants born in a Force's home are affected by the local quirks. In Flux, anyone who steps foot without the proper protection granted by Soahc's priests will be forever trapped until an outsider leads them away by the ever-changing exit of the city. It lives up to its Force's heritage - Flux is a place of anarchy and daily survival.

Rumors/Myths: The priests of Soahc residing in Flux learn arcane secrets that allow them to change the fabric of reality.

Etaf

Etaf is an oddity amongst the Forces. Always taking the form of a female, she doesn't reside anywhere on Naruta. After the Creation of Humans, she departed the world to watch over from above, not wishing to intervene in the lives of mortals except when she must. She has no home, but she does have followers. Most of the time, the priests of Etaf do not initially choose to be her priests. Etaf chooses those she feels will benefit her best and poses carefully constructed tests of all natures, then invites them to be her followers. Most, if not all, invariably agree, but they are still few in number. Those who go on a Force Quest for Etaf are viewed with either amusement, incredulity, or with pity. Her priests and followers are persecuted and welcomed about an even amount.

Priest Color: Purple
Holy Text: The Book of Stars
Rumors/Myths: There is a secret depository of books and writings that contain all the prophecies of all the priests of Etaf.
