NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT!

DID YOU KNOW?

>>Egg-timers can run for 4 minutes or 4 hours.
An egg-timer is a kind of hour-glass, made of 2 bulbs of glass joined by a narrow neck. Sand runs from the top to the bottom bulb through the neck in a measured amount of time. For an egg-timer, that takes about 4 minutes to run through.

>> Long ago, ministers often had an hour-glass on their pulpits which ran for a full hour, so that everyone could see how long the sermon had still to last.

>>The world is divided into 24 time zones.
Each is either 1 hour ahead or 1 hour behind the next.
Theres an imaginary line in the Pacific called the International Date Line.
If you cross it in one direction, youre travelling into yesterday
if you cross it in the other ,youre travelling into tomorrow.

Can our timeline folk turn and face 2010
You and I look forward to the future.
Standing in the present - the past is behind us, we know whats there
So we look forward into the unknown of the future.
Do you know exactly what will happen to you tomorrow?
No - only God knows .
Can our timeline folk turn and face 1900 and the past ?

The Hebrews ,the people of the Old Testament looked at time differently to us .Time wasnt in a straight line, but a circle. The past was in front of them, in their face. They could see the past
they knew what had happened.

The Old Testament has these words time and again,... the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage even hundreds of years after the event of the Exodus..

The past was very real, they could see it clearly. But the future  - the great unknown -  was behind them and out of sight. They couldnt see what it held for them.

Can our timeline turn to face the congregation?
Whichever way we look at the past or the future, the truth remains that the only time we have to make a difference to what will be our past or to what will be our future is the present.
God gives each of us TODAY.

Today may be the only time we have  to make a difference for the better
in our own lives and in the lives of others.

Today is the most precious time we have and we have to be careful not to waste it.
