The Philippian Jailer                         Based on  ACTS 16 :25 -34


NARRATOR: Paul and Silas are in prison on a trumped-up charge.They are sitting with their feet in
                     stocks.

SILAS:            Well,what do you think will happen to us now?

PAUL:            I've no idea. But at least we have God with us.We're in his hands.

NARRATOR: Later in the night,Paul and Silas are deep in prayer...

PAUL:            Lord,you know our situation.let whatever happens to us bring glory to your   name.
                       We have faced trials before and you have never let us down.

NARRATOR:The jail falls silent again.Then a voice is heard from one of the other cells .

DEMAS:        Paul ! Is that you? It's me,Demas !

PAUL:            Yes,Silas is also here.

DEMAS:        I think they intend to kill all of us.!

PAUL:            Courage,friend! Our Lord is ever with us!

NARRATOR:Paul and  Silas began to sing praises to God,and soon the jail was filled with the  sound                    of singing.The other prisoners sat listening to them.Suddenly.....

DEMAS:        It's an earthquake!

NARRATOR:Immediately all the doors flew open,and everyone's chains fell off.Some of    the
                     prisoners wanted to escape.

PAUL:            Friends,do not be afraid. Stay where you are !

NARRATOR: The jailer was woken by the earthquake,and seeing the prison doors open      
                       assumed the prisoners had escaped.He drew his sword and was about to kill      
                       himself......

PAUL:             Don't harm yourself! We are all here !

JAILER:         Quickly!Lights! Bring lights !(rushes to Paul's cell)
                       Please sirs,come out.!What must I do to be saved!

SILAS:            Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.

PAUL:             You and your household.

JAILER:          Will you come to my home and speak with my family also ?

NARRATOR: Paul and Silas spoke to the jailer and his family about the good news of                
                        Jesus,and his love for them.The jailer took the two apostles and washed  their
                    wounds.He and his family were baptised that very night. Then he brought them food
                       and rejoiced that he had believed in God.
