MISSION IMPOSSIBLE          Based on     JEREMIAH 1 : 4 - 10

PARENT: My boy Jeremiah's famous ,you know. He's a prophet, which means he says                     God tells him to. It's not well-paid & no-one likes him very much because of
the things he says. After all,  nobody likes to be told they're living the wrong
way and God wants them to change.......How did he get the job? Well,  it                           happened like this....(EXITS)

BARRY: Hey Jerry , what are you doing ?

JERRY: I know God wants me to do something, so I'm writing a list of reasons why I
can't do it.   He hasn't told me what it is yet , but  I'll be ready with my list.

BARRY: Oh yes ? Let me see......
(Takes paper & Reads aloud)
....Too young                           Can't  speak very well
                  Too shy                               Don't know enough
                   It's probably dangerous     Too embarrassed
There's bound to be someone better than me.

JERRY: You see. It's quite impossible.

BARRY: All I see is that you've got enough here to write a Book of Excuses.

JERRY: Maybe I'll do just that  ( aside) and then I'll be too busy to do what God wants

BARRY: Think it over -  but when God called Samuel, he was just a young boy. Moses
said  he  couldn't speak very well, and David  was a shepherd boy. Look at the
great things they  did with God's help. Anyway, I'll see you later...........(EXITS)

JERRY: It's  impossible!

GOD:     Jeremiah ,son of Hilkiah ! I want you to be my spokesperson to the world.

JERRY: (stands up)   I'm too young God ,no-one will believe me.

GOD:     You will go where I send you. You will say the words I give you. Don't be afraid
for I ,the Lord will be with you.

JERRY:  Something touched my lips. Can this be true ? (looks up) I don't feel so afraid
anymore. I know what God wants me to say. Hey Barry, I've got something to tell
            you !
(runs off).
