the whole world - not just one part of it.
Over the centuries, nations have tried to say that God was on their side, that he only
loved their people. But this verse tells us that isn't true.
For God so loved the whole world, you and me
2) that He gave his only Son.......
God so loved us that he gave the most precious thing he had, His only Son to rescue us from the things that would stop us from being God's friends. This gift was the only way of bringing us closer to God. So that, after Jesus' death and resurrection, we could get close to God and nothing would have the power to separate us ever again.
For God so loved the whole world, you and me that He gave his only Son
3) that whoever believes in him........
The free gift that God gives us doesn't depend on us buying two or more products, like in a supermarket - it doesn't depend on us taking out a subscription for a magazine. All we have to do is believe that Jesus is our Rescuer - our Saviour who came to die, because he loves you and me

4) should not die but have eternal life.......
Our bodies will die. It's the way that God designed them. But he designed you and me to be much more than simply our bodies. God gave us the gift of Jesus so that if we put our trust in him, as Jesus said, wherever I am there you may be also - forever..
