FRISKY, THE KING'S DONKEY

Frisky the donkey was a very happy, little donkey. He lived in a village, not very far from the city of Jerusalem. He was owned by two children, Joseph and Anna. Frisky was their pet donkey, Or at least, he would be until he was old enough to carry loads and work for Joseph and Anna's father.

One day, Frisky the donkey was standing tied to a post outside Joseph and Anna's house. Along came two men who started to untie the little donkey.

"Oy!" ,said Joseph, "What do you think you're doing. That's our donkey! "
"Our master needs him. Don't worry. We'll bring him back."

Something about the men seemed familiar. Yes, Joseph had seen them with Jesus.     "Alright then," said Joseph "but look after him."

Frisky the donkey was a little nervous and a little excited at the thought of an adventure. The two men brought the little donkey to Jesus. Jesus stroked the little donkeys head and spoke gently into his ear.

Frisky liked him and decided he would do his best for Jesus. The men around Jesus took off their cloaks and laid them on Frisky the donkey's back. Now donkeys are famous for two things - they are stubborn and they kick. Even donkeys who are used to being ridden, don't always do as they are told.

And Frisky the donkey had never been ridden before. Yet he stood patiently waiting until Jesus climbed on his back. Onward they went towards the great city of Jerusalem. Hundreds of people seemed to be going there too. Many were carrying palm branches to use in the festival. When they saw Jesus coming, riding on the donkey they threw down their palm branches on the ground for Frisky to walk on. Some even threw their coats on to the ground too.

The whole world seemed to be waving palm branches and shouting,  'Hosanna". At least that's how it seemed to the little donkey. "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.!" the people shouted.

"Jesus must be someone very special," thought Frisky. And he began to walk just a little taller. All around the little donkey, people laughed and sang. They waved  palm   branches and shouted "Hosanna!"

"This has to be the best day of my life," thought Frisky," and the happiest." That night in his little shed, Frisky the donkey snuggled down into the hay. He remembered the voice of Jesus and the shouts of the crowd. He could see the palm branches and the coats on the ground.
" I 'm the King's donkey,  that's what I am".   Frisky yawned.
It had been an exciting day for a little donkey.
