City Of ...
I'm sorry, haven't had the time to write up this earlier.
I will rewrite this as soon as I have the chance. Briefly, we
see that Angel is now killing vamps in LA. We're introduced to
Doyle, this cool half demon (on his mum's side) which we see causes
his to grow these spikey things all over him. He gets visions
telling him stuff and he tells Angel that he has to get close
to people to help them (obviously killing vamps and saving humans
that way only isn't enough to get forgiveness) - he has to know
them, know what they've been through, know what is their
life. So he attempts to pick up this chick - can't remember her
name, may have been Anne (it was something simular - short)
and I'll call her that for irony's sake - but, of course he hasn't
done this for centuries and is a bit rusty *hehe* and eventually
she does all the work. So, we get to know her a bit and they go
to this place where all these people in show business are and
this guy tells Angel that he's an actor. He says, "No
I'm not." and the other guy says, "Yes you are."
This goes for a while, it's hilarious. Then he sees Cordy. She's
trying to be an actress. She's broke she has absolutely nothing
except a place (no food - she stole some stuff from the
place I'm now talking 'bout) to stay. So Angel finds out that
LA is filled with powerful vamps and he kills what seems to be
the big daddy. He then aquires Cordy and Doyle as partners (Cordy
is almost eaten by the evil, big daddy dude) is saving the innocent.
Ooo, and lastly there is one cross-over in this episode to Buffy,
he calls her up but says nothing - Buffy receives a call in The
Freshman but no-one answers her "Hello? Hello??"
Email me if you have anymore
questions like what was with Angel's travel during the day? Well,
all I can guess is there are a lot of sewer/tunnel systems
in LA (if anyone can verify whether or not this is the case, please
tell me) and evil vamp has a dark tinted car/limo (like Spike/Angel,
etc.'s car - it is used by Whistler to show Buffy to Angel
when she's called to become what she is and then for him
to get to Sunnydale (I think) and then for Spike's happy,
drunk travels) and maybe there was an underground carpark everywhere
he went (Anne's home, his work, his home)? I have definately
learnt to just accept the story as it comes and ignore any scrupels
that arise.
Pick of the day:
Los Angeles is full of blood-suckers. Ask any aspiring actress.
So what's one more? Turning his back on Sunnydale and Buffy, the
slayer of his life, Angel (David Boreanaz) relocates to Tinseltown
where the vampire with sould hopes to find redemption by saving
others from demons and monsters - and not just those whe appear
in end credits. Buf Angel knows his weakness where humans are
concerned. Can he be a SNAG - sensitive new age ghoul - without
putting the bite on the poeple who need him? Angel is joined in
his quest by Doyle (Glenn Quinn) a strange half-human on his mother's
side) who is an instrument of "the powers that be".
when they want to send a message, he gets a migraine "with
pictures". And the message is that Angel must become personally
involved with people if he is to save their souls and his own.
Doyle's first headache produces the name Tina, who turns out to
be a pretty blonde who lives in fear of a violent businessman.
Escorting Tina to a swank LA party, Angel bumps into Cordellia
from Sunnydale (the optimistically monikered Charisma Carpenter),
in town to make a name for herself. "I really should be talking
to people that are somebody," she says, giving Angel the
flick. Some knights come in sining armor, others with interesting
dentistry and, by the end of the episode, Angel has two new assistants.
While Buffy is sassy, its spin-off is darker, more brooding.
But it has wit and irony. And I just love Angel's idea of a stakeout.
