About the Maker
Name: Aldrea
Animal: Snake
Species: Corn snake/red ratsnake
Aldrea was my first ever snake. I got her at age nine at a wonderful place called Reptile Showcase. She is about five feet long, and she is... um...Wow! Seven years old already! She eats small adult mice that are pre-killed. She very rarely bites, but when she does, it hurts!!!
It took me nine months to convince my parents to let me get Aldrea. When I purchased her, she was $100. She was two years old at the time, and about two feet long. She ate "fuzzy" sized mice.
Aldrea also eats warm cooked chicken on occasion when the food supply of mice runs out.
Aldrea used to have mites, but after several treatments she recovered and is now doing nicely.
Aldrea has lost a little weight, due to the winter months and an adjusted feeding schedual.
Whenever I go to a school or other place to give talks on reptiles, Aldrea always comes.
You may wonder where her unusual name has come from. Actually, I think it is quite elegant. Her name is from female andalite warrior that dies to save another species. She is from the Animorphs series. I admire her.
***Aldrea has died... In the guest book you can sign and talk to her and say your good-byes if you so desire. I'm sure she would appreciate it.***
