Half Orc fighter - The 1/2
orc fighter poses bravely between the two pillars, ready to forge further into the ruins!
He motions his companions to move ahead he'll be right behind them.....This is the 1/2 orc
fighter put out by Wizards of the West Coast for their game Chainmail. His armor is done
in the color aluminum to keep it from being to "bright" whereas his swords have
been brushed over with a high gloss. His fur cloak has some wonderful detail with shading
on one side a "skin" look to the other. |

This figure is from Larry
Elmore's Silver and Steel set I. One of my older works, it is still one of my favorites.
She was done well before I discover Citadel's Absolute matte spray, or pigmata pens. All
her small details were done with a brush with one or two hairs left on it! Including the
eyes lashes! She has a special place in my private collection. |
 |
This figure is another one
from the Silver and Steel I set. She was recently touched up and sold on e-bay. Her sword
was fashioned after a magical sword I had read about once that had a dark metal blade. |
 |
This is Wulfgar from the
acclaimed Icewind Dale trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. He is from the Heros box set for the
Forgotten Realms. I used the Elmore cover from the first book when painting him. He is an
older piece and one that I never plan to sell. |
 |
And her we have Drizzi't
himself along with his friend Bruennor Battlehammer. From the same box set as Wulfgar they
too are older works that are part of my personal collection. Painted in the late 80's when
the box set first came out. As with Wulfgar I followed the Elmore cover when painted these
two up |

Female fighter with wolf -
This is an older Ral Perth figure, a female fighter with large wolf companion. The wolf
could almost pass as a dire wolf or a worg at least, he's big enough for her to ride! This
piece is part of my personal collection. |
 |
female fighter - A
miniature made by Grenadier this was, and still is one of my favorite miniatures. So much
she even has her own name, Raven. Another one of my older works she sports a gold belt
(That unfortunately doesn't show up well in this picture.) hanging from her waist. A very
simple piece detail-wise, but it stands out so well. I plan on someday doing a
"duplicate" of her as I have an unpainted one setting around |
  |
Stern Kestrelmann by Reaper miniatures. Miniature
of the same name. This was one of the miniatures I painted and sold on e-bay. On the back
of his red tabard is a white horses head, which was not easy to do! If only I could find a
pigmata pen that wrote in white! Anyway, he came out looking pretty good I think |

Licia - Ral Partha female paladin.
This is one of the earliest figures I ever painted. Done to be a "match" for a
female character I had at the time named Licia. this was the ral Partha figure on foot and
mounted. I did this one back before I knew about "cleaning mold lines up" and
primer. Yup! This baby is over ten years old and doesn't have any primer on it! And let me
tell you flesh tones are a pain without primer! |
 |
Half Dryad ranger - This is
a Dark Sun elf that I painted to be a half dryad ranger. I did this shortly after reading
a dragon article about half dryads and half satyrs and thought it a great character
concept. Her name is Alleria greensleeves. This was my first conversion attempt. Something
"real" simple. I took the spear point and ground it off turning it into a staff.
The ground was dry brushed with white to make it look like there was a "light"
dusting of snow and in person it looks real good. Another "older" work and part
of my collection |
 |
Ral Partha Female
Fighter - This is an old ral partha female fighter. I painted her several years ago. She
is another from my personal collection, and another favorite! (I have a lot of favorites)
Will have to post a picture of her back, as she has the "typical" scanty"
bottoms on that were found a lot on Partha minis. By the way, I got a lot of flak
from my gaming friends for her outfit. |
  |
Treag the Barbarian -
this is one of Reapers barbarian minis. He is one a my first attempts at doing a
"wash" to get the definition on the skin. Not too bad. I hope that with more
practice I will get better at washes. I like the slight shiny look the camera gave him as
it makes it look like he's been swinging that sword a while and worked up a bit of a
sweat! This is one of two of these guys I have. This is the "He-Man" version,
the next will have dark hair and be my "Conan" version! |
  |
Eric Redbeard - This
is Eric Redbeard, he is a mini from the Reaper line that was discontinued about 1999. He
was pretty fun to paint. The stuff on his base if fake snow, I figured with a bearskin
cloak, he must be someplace pretty cold! |
   |
Chainmail Paladin -
This is the female paladin by Wizards of the West Coast for their Chainmail tabletop war
game. Given to me by a friend who bought her not realizing she was a "She".
(Can't imagine why with the shirt hair she has!) So, he gave her to me. And she sat around
for awhile until I finally got around to painting her. A rather nice figure for a paladin
I think. |
