Well it was different to last year!! It rained, it shone, it hailed and it rained some more. But hey you can't control the weather, so that was just tough!. But I think there was some things that could have been controlled better. There were alot of complaints Kerrang interviewd Clear Channel entertainment read What when wrong in the link below We got there about 12.00 we spent nearly an hour on the slip road coming off the motorway. This was due to a never ending line of traffic coming from the other way at the junction and noone giving way to the cars coming off the motorway. But who can blame them they had probably been in than queue for ages too. Further on down the road there was about 5 cops feeding in traffic from both ways. Then at the entrance to the event there was organisers filtering the cars through. We parked walked a mile to the entrance and then queued to get in. First thing we passed were the toilets then we had to walk through the market which led to the main stage field.I realised it was a long walk back to the toilets. The whole layout was crap. The main stage was positioned in such away that you could n't see it from one side of the field. To go from the main stage to the indoor stage you had to slowly filter through a small gateway along with thousands of others only to find there was already a huge queue of people outside the indoor stage who had been waiting ages to be let in (which was through another small gateway). Each time the indoor stage reached it's full capacity the gateway was closed. There was also the added surprise that you had to be one of the first 4000 in to have a wrist band for accesss to the front area of the stage. We watched the main stage till it pissed down and then headed for some food and to dry out. The sun came out and we hung our coats and tops on the fencing around the disabled viewing platform. We watched the grass quickly become 5 inches off mud. The people who had formed pits either side of the main stage had steam rising from them. My oldest son earned 2 wringing out some couples tops and puting them on the fence to dry. We then queud to get in to the indoor stage where we stayed till Ozzy. The bands put on a good show and I enjoyed all of them much to my surprise. We then headed out for the Ozzman himself. It was now 10 inches of mud and there were lost shoes everywhere. We crossed a stream of piss and headed down the field the Ozzfest intro came on and the crowd cheered and laughed Ozzy doing Ali G was classic. I strained to see the screens as they were so low down.(this may have been due to the high winds and saftey reasons. Then on he came the Metal Master himself Ozzy. He started with I don't know. The sound wasn't that loud I had my youngest son on my shoulders and I could hear every word he was singing, and so could everyone else as they were turning around and smiling at him. Dean had our oldest on his shoulders. After a few songs the weight was unbearable and we headed towards the back untill we could see the screens. The sound was shit at the back and I struggled to hear the music as well as Ozzy. But after 20 years of listening the songs are imprinted in my brain and I could 'hear' them anyway. After the show we made it back to the car. The fireworks started and they were amazing. Felt sorry for the dude we passed fast asleep on the side of the road. Ozzy set list included Believer, Gets me through, Something that i never had, War pigs Iron man, Paranoid, Crazy train, Mr Crowley and others. It wasn't a patch on last years festival but an experience never the less. |
