INTRODUCTION
*************
With the introduction of the ADF gauge and NDB transmitters
to Combat Flight Simulator by the RAF 662 CFSG and the fact that
Bomber missions in CFS have become very popular, I was asked to
produce a program that could help people planning bomber missions
to calculate the distances and flying time from point to point.

This program uses algorithims based on the Microsoft Flight Simulator,
Combat Flight Simulator World model that differs from the REAL
world. Be prepared for different answers than what real world
distance calculators will give you on the same co-ordinates.
The calculations are correct for CFS and thats the real intention of
this program.

It should be noted that the calculation of flight time over a
known distance is very rough as a huge number of factors have to be
taken into account to accurately calculate actual Flight Time.

Many of these factors such as Temperature, Air pressure etc are not
known. Also an Aircraft will not always be flying at the same speed
or altitude (take off and climb, Landing and descent).

INSTALLATION
*************
To install the program just double click on the file Setupsmall.exe and
follow the on screen instructions.

After Installation you can launch the program from the start/Programs
menu.

USING THE PROGRAM
******************
This program can be used to calculate distances and flight time between
known (saved locations) or manually entered positions.
I have entered the known positions of all currently available RAF 662
NDB transmitters at Airfields. This information is provided with the
program and is immediately available for use when you first launch the
program.

Using Saved Positions
----------------------
On the first Tab, in the top drop down box called "From" select one of
the available Airfields.
Next click on the second drop down box called "To" and select another
Airfield. IF YOU SELECT THE SAME AIRFIELD IN BOTH BOXES YOU WILL GET A
WELL DESERVED MESSAGE WHEN YOU CLICK CALCULATE. LOL
Click the "Calculate" button and the distances will be displayed.
Once you have calculated the distances you can then click on the
"Flight Time" button to calculate Flying time over the distance.

Manually entering Positions
----------------------------
IMPORTANT: THIS PROGRAM USES THE STANDARD DEGREES,MINUTES AND SECONDS
ENTRY BOXES AND DOES NOT USE DECIMAL DEGREES. COMBAT FLIGHT SIMULATOR
BY DEFAULT USES DECIMAL DEGREES (YOU WILL SEE THIS IN FREE FLIGHT MODE
IF YOU PRESS SHIFT + Z)
YOU CAN CHANGE THIS SETTING TO DEGREES, MINUTES AND SECONDS BY OPENING
THE FILE COMBATFS.CFG (FOUND IN THE CFS MAIN DIRECTORY) AND ADD THE
LINE, DISPLAY_FRACTIONAL_MINUTES=0 AT THE END OF THE [MAIN] SECTION
AS DISPLAYED BELOW:

[MAIN]
ShowLogo=1
NoWarnNot256=1
Location=20000,20000,20648,20526
Maximized=0
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
DISPLAY_FRACTIONAL_MINUTES=0

[PANELS]
IMAGE_QUALITY=1
HUD_COLOR=6

When you have made this change and relaunch Combat Flight Simulator
you will see the changes if you go into freeflight mode and press
SHIFT + Z.

You can now find Co-Ordinates in CFS to manually enter into the
program.
Enter the degrees minutes and seconds in all boxes and then click
on the "Calculate" button.

Adding or Editing known Positions
----------------------------------
The third tab allows the user to enter known positions and save them
or edit existing positions if incorrect and of course delete an entry.

ADDING AN ENTRY
Click on the "New" button and fill out the :
Name , latitude, longitude and comment boxes.
The name and comment boxes are up to you but the latitude and
longitude must reflect the ACTUAL POSITION IN CFS in degrees , minutes
and seconds. (See Manually entering Positions above)
When finished click the "Save Button" and the entry will be added to
the file on disk and the screen listing.

EDITING AN ENTRY
Click on the entry you wish to edit in the main list and the details
will appear in the boxes.
Make your changes then click "Save".

DELETING AN ENTRY
Click on the entry you wish to delete in the main list and then click
"Delete". The record will be removed rom the file on disk and removed
from the program list.

PROGRAM DEPENDANCIES

At the time of distribution the entire contents of this package have been scanned
for Viruses using Norton Antivirus 5 and the Virus definition files available at
the time of release.

CREDITS
********
This program would not have been possible without the help of the following:
 - John Blackie (FSASM) Australia, for FS distance Algorithims.
 - Roger Lowery (RAF_Prune) Australia for IAS TO TAS algorithim.
 - RAF_Falvo7 for the suggestion in the first place.
 - RAF_Thunderbolt for testing.
 - RAF_Dynotech for constantly changing his Web Page for me and linking this program
   to the RAF 662 CFSG Web page.
 - Thanks also to the guys at Combatfs.com message board for their support.
