TOW The Two Sides

Sorry about posting the same fic twice! It was late
at night and I was in a hurry. Here's the real one:

Hey! I'm continuing this later then I thought, the
holidays were keeping me up. I will be using more
lines from the song (the same one as last time) and a
new one: Savage Garden, The Lover After me. Hope you
enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own the characters, the songs, nor
the singers. They belong to other VERY lucky people
that are not me. :(

Scene: It has been a few weeks and Monica is now four
months pregnant. She is in her room, obviously still
in shock that Chandler has left. It looks as if she
hasn't been around much since Chandler left, nor talked
about what was in the letter. No one else is in the
apartment until Rachel enters.

Rach(talking to Mon through the door): Monica, you have
to come out. You haven't been eating properly since he
left!

Mon: I can't believe I did that! I am so stupid.

Rach: What did he say in the letter? Whatever he said,
it is not your fault!

Mon: It's all my fault! You don't understand!

Rach: Whatever he said in that letter, I know that he
wouldn't want you to starve yourself to death! You're
two months pregnant, and without food, that baby will
die! Besides, without your cooking, Joey hasn't had a
decent meal since Chandler left! You're going to kill
Joey!

Mon: Everything's my fault, isn't it?! I'm always the
one cooking everything, planning everything, doing all
the work, and then you just complain when I do something
wrong! It's time you guys learn to do things on your
own. (Monica opens her door and storms out of the
apartment.)

Scene: Central Perk, Everyone is there, except Monica
and Chandler, of course.

Rach: And then she just stormed out! She has been acting
really bitchy lately.

Phoe: It's just mood swings. I had those too, remember?
(Everyone clearly remembers how Phoebe had acted during
that time)

All(except Phoebe): Yup/I remember/Oh yeah.

Ross: That must be it then.

Joey: Still, Chandler isn't back. She must really be
taking it hard, because she had told us that she loved
him.

Phoe: Yeah. I'm starting to get a little worried about
Chandler, even though we are mad at him. He's been gone
for a couple of days now, and he left Monica pregnant.

Ross: Do you think he knew?

Rach: Well, when we went back up to the apartment the
baby clothes were all over the floor, so he must of knew,
right?

Ross: That makes me even madder at him for leaving her
like this.

Phoe: I don't think he would do that. That's not the
Chandler I know.

Joey: Yeah. Same here, if he had knocked up one of his
other girlfriends, no matter how afraid of commitment
he was, he would have stayed.

Rach: Thank you for that, Joey.

Phoe: But he's right. If he cared that much about Mon,
he might have not seen what was on the floor. He might
have just worried about catching her and apologising.

Rach: Yeah, I suppose your right.
(Everyone turns to Ross)

Ross: Allright, allright, he wouldn't have done it on
purpose. By the way, where is Monica?
(They all get worried looks on there faces.)

Scene: Mcdonalds, Monica is there, eating what looks to
be the entire restaraunt.

Mon: Why don't we go here more often? The food here is
great! (thinking) I wonder if the others are worried
about me. I wouldn't blame them if they're not, I really
blew up at Rachel. What if no one cares about me?
Chandler does, but he's afraid to come back, and I don't
blame him. I wonder what he's doing right now.

Scene: California, Chandler is laying in his bed of his
one-room, small, cramped apartment alone.

Chan: So this is what it feels like to love someone
so much, you can't go back, because you're afraid that
if you see her and she doesn't want to be with you, you
couldn't go on.

Scene: NY streets, Monica is just walking alone.

Mon: I miss him so much.

at a picture that was in his wallet of him and Monica)

Scene: Time lapse, it's been five months since then, and
now Monica is nine months pregnant. Its been six months
since Chandler left. She has improved, but still refuses
to go out on a date with anyone. She had hired a private
investigator, but he gave up after five months. She
never told anyone about the letter, she felt too bad. She
is now sitting in her apartment, alone. She suddently
gets these tremendous pains in her stomach.

Mon: Oh my god! It's time!
(Rachel enters)

Rach: Mon, I was wondering if you - what's wrong?

Mon: It's time!

Rach: Oh my god! We have to go to the hospital! We have
to get everyone! Are you okay? Do you need anything?

Mon: I'm fine, just get me to the hospital!!!

Scene: Hospital (duh-j/k). Monica is about to give birth.

Mon(thinking): I can't believe Chandler isn't here.
(Time lapse, Mon is holding her new, baby . . . boy! I
know people wanted it to be a girl, but it goes along
with what Chandler said in the seventh season "We're
going to have a boy, twin girls, and another boy."
Anyways, Mon is holding him and Rachel, Ross, Joey, and
Phoebe come in.)

Mon: It's a boy!

Ross: What are you going to name him?

Mon: Matthew Patrick.

Rach: That's a wonderful name. How did you think of it?

Mon: I don't know. It just came to me.

Phoe: He's beautiful.

Rach: And he's got beautiful blue eyes and brown hair
just like ....
(They all look down, except Joey)

Joey: Chandler, duh! No one noticed he looks exactly like
him?

Mon: I did, Joe.

Scene: California, Chandler's office. He is working really
hard.

Boss(lets call him Bill): Hey Matthew, your a great
worker, for only being here six months!

Chan/Matt: Thank you, sir!

Bill: We're having a work party Friday night, do you want
yo come?

Chan/Matt: No thanks, I think I'll use that time to
catch up on the report that's due Monday.

Bill: Your a great worker, Matt. I'd just like you to
have some fun and meet some of your co-workers.

Chan/Matt: Maybe another time, I really need to work on
that paper.

Bill: Allright. See you tomorrow!

Chan/Matt: Bye.
(Bill leaves)

Chan(thinking): I moved here, changed my name and got a
better paying job, but I have no friends. (He looks at
his name tag) Matthew Perry (AN: What a coincidence! :)
(He sighs. I can't do this anymore. I have to go back. I
miss Monica too much. (He gets up after his boss) Bill?

Bill: Yeah?

Chan/Matt: I know I've only been working here six months,
but I was wondering if I could take a vacation. (He had
to at least stop in NY to see if she still cared for him,
if she didn't, then he could just come back.)

Bill: Normally, I would say no, especially in this busy
season, but your a hard worker, Perry! You can go in one
month, I would have let you go now, but as I said, it is
our busy season.

Chan/Matt: Okay! Thank you sir! (Bill exits) I'm finally
going to see Monica.

Scene: One month later, NY, Monica's apartment. Monica is
playing with her baby boy, Matthew. (another coincidence!)
He has beautiful blue eyes and brown hair, and like Joey
said before, looks remarkably like his father. Phoebe
enters with Rachel.

Rach: There is this new guy at work and he is so cute!
Mon, I set you up for a blind date with him tomorrow!

Mon: I don't- can't go, I have to watch Matt.

Phoe: Rachel and I will!
(Mon looks disappointed)

Mon: I don't think I'm ready for a date.

Rach: It's been seven months, Monica! You have to go!

Phoe: Please!

Mon: I really don't want to.

Rach: Come on, please Monica.
(Rachel and Phoebe put on their best sad and pleading
looks)

Mon:(knows that her friends are faking it, but figures
if they are that worried about her, she might as well)
Allright, I'll go.

Phoe: Yes! He'll pick you up here at seven o' clock
tomorrow. (They both leave)

Mon(quietly): No guy is perfect for me except Chandler.

Scene: California, Chandler's apartment. He is packing.

Chan(thinking): I can't believe I'm going to see Monica
tomorrow! I hope she will forgive me.

Scene: Tomorrow, the airport. Chandler is about to board
the flight. He hands his ticket to the lady reciving them.

Lady: Final destination (AN: Good movie, by the way) New
York, arrival time 7:00 pm.

Chan: Yup. (He boards the plane)

Scene: Time lapse, New York. It's 7:01. Monica is waiting
inside her apartment with Matt, Phoebe, and Rachel.

Mon: He's late!

Rach: (Rolls her eyes) He'll be here, Monica.

Mon: I can't believe I let you talk me into this!

Phoe: It'll be fun!

Mon: No it won-
(There is a knock at the door, interrupting Monica.

Rach: I'll get it!
(She goes to the door and a guy is standing there)
Monica, this is Randy. Randy, this is Monica.

Rand: Hello.

Mon: Hi.

Phoe: (pushing Monica out the door) Bye! Hope you have
fun!

Rand/Mon: Bye. (they leave)

Rand: I was hoping we could take a walk and then go to
dinner.

Mon: Okay.

Scene: Airport, Chandler is getting off his plane. He
goes to get his luggage, and then goes outside to get
a taxi. One stops, and he gets in. He tells the driver
where to go, and then just sits back. The driver drives
for a while, but the traffic is so bad at this rate it
would take hours to get there. Chandler realises that
he is right next to Cantral Park, so if he got out now
he could cut through there to get to his old apartment.
He paid the driver and got out. The walk wouldn't be too
bad, he only brought one bag, and it was a nice night
out.

Scene: Monica and Randy are about to enter Central Park.

Rand: I thought we could take a walk through here and
just talk. (He takes her hand. Monica feels a little
uncomfortable, so she says something to break the
silence.)

Mon: Okay. I'm surprised you went out with me. (The last
sentence was out of her mouth before she could stop it.
But she had to know.)

Rand: Why?

Mon: Because I have a son. Most guys would just run away.
I thought I would never have another boyfriend.

Rand: Any guy to have you is the luckiest guy in the
world. (At that Monica smiled. It didn't mean anything to
her that he said it, she rememered Chandler saying it,
and that thought would make her smile forever.)

Scene: Chandler is walking through Central Park. He sees
all the couples walking by and hopes that he will soon
be one of them. He continues walking until he sees someone
he thinks he recognises. Monica? But who is she with?
He sees her smiling and holding his hand. His heart breaks.
She is in love. With someone else. He quickly ducks behind
a tree. So this is how she felt when she saw him in her
apartment. Like her heart was being ripped out. He quickly
walked away in the opposite direction of them. He
couldn't go back because he had a ticket that left in a
week. If it had worked out with Monica, he would have
ripped up the non-refundable ticket. But he was going
back for good, so he figured he could just wait for a
week.

Scene: Monica and Randy are walking, Randy has continued
what he was saying.

Rand: I'm so lucky I got to be that guy.
(Monica suddently stops. She can't do this to him.)

Mon: I'm sorry Randy. I can't do this to you.

Rand: Was it something I said?

Mon: It actually was. I can't do this to you. I love
someone else. I'm sorry. I have to go. (She turns around
and leaves.)

Scene: Her apartment. She comes in crying.

Rach: What's wrong?

Phoe: What did he do to you?

Mon: I can't do this! I love Chandler.

Rach: Monica, he's gone.

Mon: I know! (She runs into her room.)

Scene: Hotel. Chandler has gotton a room and he is laying
face-down on the bed, also crying.

Chan: So this is really the end.

Scene: The next day. Chandler and Monica are the same as
the day before, except they are both looking at that
picture again.

"Here I go again I promised myself I wouldn't think of
you today
It's been seven months and counting
You've moved on
I still feel exactly the same (shot to Mon in her room
looking at the letter he left her)
It's just that everywhere I go all the buildings know

Like photographs and memories of love
Steel and granite reminders
The city calls your name and I can't move on (shot to
Chandler looking out his window at the city below)

The lights go out the same (shot to Monica remembering
the day Chandler left - her finding the letter)

he saw Monica's face down in the coffeehouse after she
saw that lady)

saw Chandler in the apartment with that lady)

The lover after me" (shot to Chandler remembering when
he saw Monica with Randy in the Park.)
