R.O.L.F.’S ELEVEN
COMMANDMENTS
.Thou shalt not pass a rise without casting, and shalt cast with precision, landing thy fly lightly.
.Thou shalt strike swiftly and surely, and play and land thy fish well.
.Thou shalt view flyfishing not as a dalliance, but as one of life’s passionate pursuits.
.Thou shalt never let such mundane matters as work, family, sleep nor money interfere with thy days spent in pursuit of the wily trout.
.Thou shalt know in thy heart that God does not count any day spent flyfishing against thy allotted time on earth.
.Thou shalt never pass a flyshoppe without entering, nor enter without purchasing.
.Thou shalt always sport appropriate flyfishing headwear with never a Zebco or BassMasters logo in sight.
.Thou shalt never resort to worms nor eggs in thy fishing, unless of the San Juan or Bighorn variety, or if nothing else shalt work.
.Thou shalt at all times fish thy fly upstream, except when fishing it downstream or across.
.Thou shalt cunningly plan thy strategy in advance of fishing each riffle, flat, pocket or run.
.Thou shalt love the waters, both large and small, and all things that nourish therefrom; and thou shalt remember that “Water’s for fishin’, Dickel’s for drinkin’.”
