Tying Instructions

The Black Ghost is a classic streamer pattern that has been around since 1927. The original pattern used yellow hackle and two opposing pairs of white saddle hackle. The marabou version is just as effective, but easier to tie.

The tie is pretty straight forward. One tip that I find helpful is to tie off with a half hitch and cut the thread so the bobbin is out of the way and back up. Tie back on with your thread and wrap the tinsel back up.

How to Fish

I just started tying and fishing some classic streamers- Mickey Finn, Black Ghost, etc… with this pattern I had a few good afternoons on Lake Erie Steelies. I found that the fish would attempt to destroy the fly when it was twitched with a sharp, short strip as it drifted.
