Tying Instructions
1. Start thread and wrap it all the way down to halfway down the gape
of the hook.
2. Come back about 1/8th
inch and start your peacock. Wrap the thread to one eye-length behind
the eye, then follow with the peacock and tie down and cut.
3. Select a partidge
feather that's soft but not too webby. Tie in by the butt, then use
a rotary hackle pliers tool to wrap around one time. You only want
a sparse hackle.
4. Carefully place your
thread through the barbs and tie off. Lightly push the collar back
and leave room to whip finish a head. Cut and you're done.
How to Fish
Fish
the Red Ass across and down in the current and watch for the take
on the swing, as it rises. This pattern imitates all the stages of
the caddisfly and can be fished wet, dry, or emerging. It is a great
pattern! Use it on dropper rigs, too.
