Hearst Castle 有一個西班牙名, 叫 "La Cuesta Encantada"...
California 在200年前是西班牙人統治的地方, that's why we got "Los Angeles" as a city name :-)
William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) 一手創起美國最大的出版和媒體帝國,他和Aviator (Leonardo 演的那一片)的 Howard Huges 有很多相似之處, 所以也有很多惺惺相惜的故事.
Hearst Castle 於 1919年開始建造,是一位女性的建築師 Julia Morgan 的作品 (真令人敬佩的女人 :-) ) La Cuesta Encantada 有濃厚的西班牙,墨西哥及加州古老建築的色彩, 裡面很多的藝術品, 也是Mr. Hearst 從義大利,西班牙購買來的.
La Cuesta Encantada 為當時其中之一的美國富豪的"別墅", 其實加州有很多這樣的地方, 所以不太清楚是不是需要專程跑來 :-P (Pasadena 旁邊的 Hungtington 也很讚!!!) 不過最令人驚艷的Neptune Pool (海神池) 倒是worth a drive.
