| Territorial/Overprotective Aggression |
| Territorial/Overprotective aggressive dogs usually bark threatenlly at anyone who tries to enter their territory/home. He may even growl, lung at, or bite a person who tries to enter his domain. These dogs may try to claim the yard, home, sofa, a member of the familly, or anything else. The aggression may even happen when certian noises accur, such as the door bell, a musical instroment, or the phone. The dog will stand straight up, ears and tail errect, and a highly focused intense look on his face. This dog is a "Stay out of my ZONE" sort of dog. He will try to attack/threaten anyone who seems to be in his teritory. Territorial/Overprotective aggressive dogs start showing signs when they have matured, which is usually between ages one (1) year to up to three (3) years old. This type of aggression may also be inherited from the pup's parents. If the mother or Father is aggressive, chances are, the pup will be too. Breeds in sporting, working, or terrier groups tend to be Territorial/Overprotective aggressive. Lack of sosialization causes aggression as well. Sometimest he problem happens if there's more then one dog in the familly as well. This causes them to be socialized with other dogs, but not people. Tying up your dog, keeping him/her locked up, or just living where your dog doesn't see very many people on a day to day basiss may also cause Territiorial/Overprotective aggression. (Such as Hazel, who is tied up BEACAUSE she's aggressive, and she lives where not very many people come to visit). |
