| Pain Aggression: |
| Pain Aggression ocurs when a dog snaps, growls, bites, barks, ect. when touched in a painful or sensitve area. Pain aggression is most seen in dogs when they are being bathed, groomed, Medicated, trained, or when visiting the vet. Pain aggression usually starts young, and can be inherited from the pups parents. Many pain aggressive dogs act this way, and the owners don't know whats wrong with the dog because it's an unseen problem. The dog may have hip problems, or any other internal medical problems. A dog can not tell you when he is in pain. His first reaction/instinct is to run away from you when you try to touch him when he is in pain, or to try to stop you (Pain aggression). An aggressive reaction to pain when being groomed is very common. The dog may react when the fur is pulled (from tangles or mats) from soap in there eyes or ears, or if theres a slip up in the nail triming. It is also possible to cut your dog with sisors if you are clipping there fur. (Wow! It's amaizing how dangerous grooming can be isn't it!?) To avode these situations, it is best if you: Always know where the ends of your sissors are when trimming. With white nails, clip about 2 mm away from the quick (Vein inside nail), and with black nails, try filling them (the vibration of the nail filler helps the quick go back). Use detanglers for tangled fur and mats... try the cutting dog the middle of the mat, then using a comb to comb free the mats. Always hold the fur when detangling so the fur is not pulled. Use cotton balls in ears when bathing, and keep soap away from eyes. |
