Lawn

Here the stairway through the mellyrn meets the top of a mighty hill, opening out into the middle of a great lawn filled with blue and yellow flowers. At the center of the lawn stands a great shimmering fountain which falls into a basin of silver. From the basin flows a white stream of water out into a small brook, which then trickles away down the hill. Further north there stands a mallorn tree of such magnificent height that it seems to reach even to the clouds. A path paved with white pebbles curves around the hilltop, leading west and east from the stairs.

The light of dawn shines brightly down upon the lawn, catching dewdrops and making them twinkle like evening stars. A sweet elven song mingles with sounds of nature, creating a relaxing atmosphere for those who wander nearby. Sitting beside the shimmering fountain, the clothier Galharth tosses his net into the water, watching it sink slowly towards the bottom. Reaching out he retrieves the net when it makes half of its journy down. "Interesting," he says aloud. Reaching up, he scratches at the still healing scratchs evident upon his face. "Perhaps weights would help?"

Galadriel is then standing beside the tailor. She has a fine quiver slung over her back and a feminine, but powerful looking, short bow in one hand. "Another frog infestation, Galharth?" She eyes the net.

Turning to the sound of a voice, Galharth ends up holding the wet net over his lap. As the dampness drips and the wettness soaks through, he stands, holding the net away from his clothing. "Nay, Lady, no frogs, but perhaps an infestation of strange ideas," he says with a smile. Catching sight of the bow, his brow lifts with curiosity, "Out for practice this day?" He asks with a nod towards the weapon.

Galadriel lays a hand upon the strung bowstring and plucks at it. The effect, in her hands, is a lovely twang of a note. She nods in reponse, "I find I appreciate breakfast that much more if I have worked towards it." She smiles an early-morning kind of smile. "Strange ideas, you say? Do we catch those with nets now?"

"We could," he replies as he wrings out the net, sending droplets of water to the ground. "I suppose it depends on what you wish to catch." Chuckling softly he looks towards the lady. "At first the thought was fish at the rivers edge to the south, and now I consider a larger, stronger net to slow a Troll to give warriors time to defeat it. Strange, yet the more I learn, the greater the possibilities."

The Lady reaches out to touch the material of the net, gauging its possibilities against a troll perhaps. "What sort of possibilities?"

"Our ropes, if they withstand testing comparable to a blunt force blow of a troll as described by those I've spoken with so far, could be woven into a net the size needed to entrap a troll. Both Commander Legarwin and the Ranger Annaiel have suggested deployment of the suggested net by Eagles." Galharth takes a deep breath, after having rambled on with a small measure of excitement. "The ingenuity of our people, mingled with attributes of our allies, we might in fact be able to develop a strategic tool that might lead to defeating trolls and other dreaded beasts." Shrugging his shoulders he glances from the net to the Lady. "It would require some intereaction with others outside Lorien, and I know not how to go about this. Perhaps I could enlist help within the Royal Court."

The Lady's expression is inscrutable as always. She does not openly share Galharth's enthusiasm. "With whom do you seek interaction at this stage? There are none in the Royal Court that can summon an eagle upon a whim."

A frown appears upon the ellon's face. "I'm not sure who, to be honest. From what the Ranger Annaiel has said, she can speak with the Eagles, and Commander Legarwin recommends that we avoid testing in the mountains." Galharth says thoughtfully, "Perhaps there is a canyon to the north, or even to the south that could be used to test theories, for I'd wish to avoid testing on a creature such as a Troll, only to discover that it made them more dangerous rather than easier to defeat. Unfortunately, I know little of the world outside to be able to give a firm answer." Pursing his lips tightly, and furrowing his brow, he appears to consider something. Refocusing upon the lady, he asks, "Perhaps I could train with the Royal Court, and gain the information which I seek. It would be a fair trade, for I'm sure I could be of some use while learning what I need to complete work on this strange idea of mine."

During the whole time that Galharth speaks, the Lady's coutenance does not change. And indeed, after the final words have been posited, still is she silently regarding the other. Finally, she vocalizes her thoughts, "N'er would any accuse me of not wishing my guards every advantage. And your idea for equalizing the battle between elf and troll is a good one, but I do not as yet see the merit of wandering around Middle Earth searching for testing grounds. Can the thing not be dropped from a talan at the border? But nevermind that for now, it does need to be tested, and the logistics can be decided upon when you have one ready. As for the Royal Court? All that are willing are welcome, so I will allow it. You might approach Niinaeth for duties that may be helpful to her while you are learning."

Nodding towards the Lady's suggestions, the clothier tucks the still damp net into a concealed pocket of his robes. "It will take some time before anything can be tested, and some more time still before construction can begin." Galharth says glancing towards the fountain. "And I thank you for allowing me to seek out the Royal Court, for at the very least a mutual benefit will be gained in some form. I will be sure to seek Niinaeth when she returns to the Wood."

Turning his gaze back to the lady and her bow, he smiles. "I wish you well with your morning activities."

Galadriel inclines her golden head in appreciation, "And to you brother, I wish many more strange thoughts, should they also be to our benefit." She smiles a little, then moves away towards the training field.
