Eastern Guard Platform
You stand on a wooden platform poised atop the High Green Wall. From here you have a commanding view of the roadway (try "look gates") leading up to the great Gates of the city. The gates are built between a divide in the wall, and you can cross the divide, to another platform, via a rope bridge.

A soft mist still lingers in the cool air of late morning. The Wood seems almost caught in shadows this day as a heavy snow storm rages outside the borders of Lothlorien. Dark storm clouds circle, blocking the light from reaching the land. The wind blows in from the west, bringing with it a moist coolness that is not often felt within these protected woods. It is both chilling and refreshing.

Standing on the edge of the Guard Talan, overlooking the Gates, the Warden Tolur casts his gaze to the East. The sight beyond the trees is a hazy one, filled with the wintery swirl of the distant storm. "T'is a strange sight to see the green of the wood with the backdrop of a winter storm." He comments aloud to no one in particular. "At least it should keep too much from occuring upon the borders."

"Yet, winter, at times, calls forth the more dangerous beasts who lack in food and warmth," replies a voice from the entrance of the talan. The Commander Legarwin appears, his cloak shifting softly as he ascends the ladder and comes to stand near the Warden. "Have any reports from the borders been brought back?" His voice is calm while his gaze remains keen on the distance.

Stepping into the Talan with a slight limp, the Sentinel Thorhur has his eyes trained on the floor. A long gash can be seen on his arm and he winces slightly as he surveys the others in the room. One is the guard Tolur and the other is none other than the Commander. Standing to salute he says to the other two, "I have just returned from the borders. I had a nasty run in with a dozen or so yrch, they were looking for a camp. It could perhaps be the one that was camped here a while back, the one that burned the trees." he seems very anxious and excited.

Turning to the sound of a voice well known among the Guard, Tolur touches his hand to his chest and sweeps his hand outwards respectfully to the Commander, "Well met, Commander," he says softly. "I fear the reports pour in with great frequency, and as you've said the storms outside out the wood set the beasts into moods most foul."

Pausing, the Warden gestures to a nearby Sentinel to bring forth a stack of reports. "As I've recently picked up this rotation atop the Gates, I know not which report you've last been given." the Guard admits with no small measure of embarrassment. Offering the stack of border reports, he pauses as Thorhur enter. Eyes grow wide as the Sentinel speaks. "Alas, the flow of reports is never ending." he mutters softly to himself as the other speaks of his experience.

Legarwin gives a small nod to the salute and listens closely to the words of the Warden as he turns to see who else enters the guard platform. As the Sentinel comes forth with pain being evident, the offered reports are ignored with full attention turning towards Thorhur. "A small company of yrch you say. Are there any others who are injured?" Concern is clear in the voice of the Aderthad though his visage remains emotionless.

"None others, I was alone, but these yrch retreated swiftly, clearly not wanting to be involved in a fight with the Galadhrim, but they were not as willing as those from the camp. However, these were atop wargs." The sentinel is clearly very disturbed by the incident. "I thought the yrch had left. Why would they return, we clearly defeated them."

Shock is clearly evident on the faces of the Guards standing watch above the Gate, and with a nod to each and a jerk of his head back towards the gate, Tolur silently reminds the others that they have duties to focus upon. Moving towards the center of the Talan, the Warden grabs a chair and brings it forth towards Thorhur, "Sit mellon, certainly you can pass your information to the Commander better if we have little worry of you collapsing from your injury,"

Glacing back to Legarwin, concern is clearly written upon the Warden's face. "We are being scouted, or it seems so. Should we send forth a patrol to gain some insight into what these beasts are searching for? And perhaps how far and who they are watching?"

The Commander is silent for a time as he takes in the words of those around him. His brow becomes furrowed in thought and concentration which he does not speak for a short time. When his words finally ring, they appear to have been carefully considered and chosen. "Yes, we will need a scouting party to investigate this disturbing news. However, I wish for the group to be small. Use as many forms of stealth as possible. Also, for the time being, there should be no direct engagements of the enemy. By fey voices, let us keep them from our borders."

Thorhur sits upon the chair and turns to the Commander. He takes in his words carefully and does not respond. Instead he merely nods and looks towards Tolur.

"How far would you have us go?" Tolur asks after a moments thought. "Would you have us reach as far as the Beornings? For certainly if we're having trouble, it's reasonable to think that they too might be suffering an increase in activity."

Again the Guard pauses, turning his gaze to look upon the injured Sentinel "Perhaps three of us could go. We'd move swiftly, make little or no contact, and be return in less than 10 days time." Turning now towards Legarwin, he tilts his head. "Shall I ask the Warden Maglind to take charge?" he asks.

After a moment's time of pondering, the Commander replies, "Do no travel so far as to the Bruinen Valley. Only go near enough to the camp of the yrch that you may see attempt to interpet what plans they have. And yes, Maglind is to lead the company. Have a report brought to me upon return that I may do what is necessary to protect our lands. Until that time, I have other matters that need my attention." With a nod of parting, the Commander moves to the entrance of the talan and disappears below.

"I shall be quick to pass along the order," Tolur says, once more touching his hand to his chest and sweeping his hand outwards in a respectful salute. Turning to the Guards on Duty, he speaks. "Ahinrogil, you have the watch until I return. See that one of the Guard help Thorhur to the Healing Talan when he's ready." With that, Tolur is gone, off in search of the Warden Maglind.
