Back to the BFG MT's
I never thought I would go back to the
BFG MT's, although they were a great tire way back when I had 31's.  But the Goodyear MT/R's got down to 50% tread remaining, so I had to get rid of them while they were still goodt.  I was hoping to be ready to put the Stage 3 lift on by now and upgrade to 35" tires, but I've got a kid now, so I needed some tires that would still kick ass off road but not wear out too fast since my Jeep is a daily driver.  Fortunately, BFG updated the design of the MT to the KM, with more side biters for better traction and puncture resistance.  Hopefully I can get at least four years out of these suckers!!
I got the wheels and tires from
4Wheel Parts for about $900 with a full replacement warranty.  This is a great thing to have when you're off-roading, but I've never had any problems with flats (knock on wood!!)  I decided not to get the matching spare, the 32" MT/R will get me out of trouble if I ever need it.

UPDATE: due to extreme stupidity, I ended up needing to get the matching spare.

A Little Body Lift
Most people will tell you that you can't fit 33's on a 2" lift, but I have no problem fitting the BFG MT's on my TeraFlex lift, at least for on-road driving.  I'm sure I'm going to have some rubbing when I start flexin and stuffing the tires in the fender wells.  I'm sure I can take care of this probelm with a 1" body lift.  Although I despise body lifts, 1" shouldn't be too bad.  I'll probably go with the
Currie 1" body lift and 1" motor mounts to help clear up some of the driveline vibrations I have.

UPDATE: Yep, the new meats rubbed like a mofo.........see Currie body lift installed here.
