| TeraFlex Next Generation Quick Disconnects |
|
| Flexing 101 TJ's don't flex for shit with the sway bar connected. Getting a set of quick disconnects is the cheapest and easiest way to get more flex on the trail. I looked at several different brands and decided on the TeraFlex ones for several reasons. Numero uno was that you only disconnect one end of the link and there's a pin you mount to the frame that keeps the sway bar from dropping. Other manufacturers designs force you to tie up the sway bar with wire and are difficult to reconnect. Also, the TeraFlex disco's will work with lift heights of 0-4", so when I get my lift I don't have to buy new center sections like you do for Rubicon Express disco's. There are also grease fittings on both ends of the links which prolong the life of the bushings. Installation The hardest part of this install was getting the stock links off where they connect to the sway bar. It's a tapered fitting so I had to beat the shit out it to get it off. When the stock links finally popped out, they shot across the driveway 20 feet and landed in the middle of the street. You also have to drill a hole in the frame for the pin that holds the link up when disconnected from the axle. The kit also comes with break line relocation brackets, which were actually kind of a bitch to install. Tip 1: Never insert the retainer pins from the bottom, always instert them from the top. It's possible that they may shake loose and fall out. Tip 2: It's ok to drive on the street with the sway bar disconnected, contrary to what some people might say. Just don't drive like Dale Earnhardt or you will end up like him. |

| This is the first mod I made to my Jeep and definitely the best. Even when my TJ was at stock height, I could still FLEX more than RedAss with his 3" lift!!! The ride is soooo much smother when disconnected and aired down. Your Jeep will also be able to go through rougher terrain. The axles will be able to travel farther keeping all your tires gripping the ground. There have been many times that RedAss lost grip on the trail and got stuck going up a hill that I crawled right up. But there have also been times that RedAss used sheer speed to make it up a hill that I couldn't crawl up!!! |
