This is a very good mod to make, especially if you're hitting some rocky trails when you're still at stock height. Sure, I probably could have saved the $150 I spent on the skid and used it towards my lift. But on my first real wheelin trip my gas tank took several decent hits, so I decided I would rather get the skid now and have the peace of mind that 1/8" thick steel provides. Also, I was still undecided on what lift to get and when. The instructions Tomken included were pretty good and installation was fairly easy. The only problems I ran into were that the brackets that connect the back of the skid to the frame and the bolts on the stock skid didn't quite lign up right. Nothing a sledge hammer won't take care of!!! I have also heard of people having problems with the diffenetial rubbing the front of the skid, forcing them to cut a chunk out of the skid. Thankfully I didn't have that problem. |
