Tune-In Tokyo This CB replaced the hand held one that I was using. I really wanted a P/A and WX, but all the head units that had both functions were really big. TJ's don't have any space to mount them, unless you have an overhead console. I really wanted to get the 75 WX since the controls are in the mic, but it doesn't have a P/A. So, I went with the smallest head unit that had a P/A. I mounted it on my dash above the steering wheel with a velcro strip so it would be easy to take on/off. I also just added an external speaker since the speaker on the head unit is on the bottom, right where I put the velcro. I don't even have to turn the volume up more than half way cause the speaker is so loud. UPDATE: I just checked the Cobra website and found that they have a new compact CB model called the 76 XTR that's just like the 75 WX but with a P/A instead of WX!!! It's a bummer there isn't both, but now I can ditch the head unit on my dash. But the guys at my local CB shop told me that I wouldn't get as much performance out of the 76 XTR as my 19 DX, so I decided to stick with what I've got. Maybe in a few years they'll get the compact CB thing figured out so it's just as good as a head unit. |
