Cobra 45WXST CB
Firestik CB Antenna
This is a pretty sweet set up since I alreay had the CB and I didn't have to go out and buy a whole new CB.  The CB unit is a actually a handheld with a cigarette lighter power plug and a lapel mic.  I just ran the coax and power wire behind the dash.  That way when I don't need to use it I can unplug the CB unit and stuff the wires between the dash and the windshield.  I also really like it cause it's not as big as a regular CB unit and a problem mounting it since it just clips on the visor.  The only down side is that the lapel mic isn't very loud and it's hard to hear people when I'm flying down the freeway on the way to the trails.
This is my solution to the problem of mounting a CB antenna to the Jeep without a swing-out tire carrier.  The mounting bracket is actually made by Firestik for a Dodge truck, but it works great here to get the antenna away from the back window and up high enough so it doesn't block the brake light.  I removed the light cover, drilled the holes, and fastened the bracket with the nuts on the outside.  I had to do this cause the extra length of the bolt ends would keep the light cover from fitting back on.  You could cut the ends of the bolts off, but I didn't feel like taking the time to do that.  I wasn't worried about drilling the holes in the brake light since I plan to get a swing-out tire carrier in the future and the brake light assembly will gone then anyway.  I got the 2' antenna length, which sticks up about 8" above the top.  Since the 2' antenna doesn't bend much, I got a spring to take care of that problem.  I wrapped the coax around the 3rd brake light, secured it with a zip tie, and ran it through the gap between the tailgate and the body, but between the hinges, leaving a little slack for opening the tailgate.  The I ran the rest of the cable down the side of my Jeep all the way up to the front.
