Hello. These few pages are some pictures retrieved from my other laptop that crashed, highlighting the work I did in australia from 1993 to 1999. What did I do? Well, I introduced a new variety of chiles to australia and helped convert 13 farms to organic production. In working with these farmers, I established a community based organic processing facility, where we worked together co-operatively to make a range of bottled produce and dried products. My efforts resulted in the agricultural department finally taking small farm organic production seriously, as international markets began more demand for such products.  I wrote 2 reports that were published for the region on organic production and certification, including JOE MAMMAS GUIDE TO BEING CERTIFIED. These pictures are from the crops that were established on the many different farms around the region. The farmers were dedicated and worked hard to overcome a lot of financial and establishment struggle. In 1999, I shut down my business because, the department of immigration did not think that the work I was doing was enough to grant me a residency visa. During this time, I spent over AUD250,000 dollars of my own money (from emotionally difficult liquidation of an inheritance) because I believed in what I was doing would make a difference to the region I was working in. I had been dedicated to my work, and as far as I am concerned, though I may not have achieved the residency to continue what I was doing, I know, I made a difference.

Crops grown:
Tomatoes, a range chiles, potatoes, beans, parsley, broccoli. Pumpkins, marshmallow root, echinaeca, kiwis, a range of herbs, garlic, carrots and onions.

Crop production hit 10 tons in 1999.

The growers, despite my horrific bereaucratic problems, have continued to produce beautiful food.

And I honour them for all their efforts.  SUPPORT SMALL LOCAL GROWERS WORLDWIDE.
