Here's what went on in September --

9-09-00
--Pep band rehearsal at 12:30 and football game at 2:00pm. As always, D, the forever bandie, is attending. =) All freshmen run around, everyone else chats, D realizes her cruddy flute is broken (she wouldn't bring her good flute, now would she?!) and isn't worth it to be fixed. Then when Molly arrives, HER flute is broken TOO! But D's flute is worse, b/c Mr. Eicher eventually fixes Molly's flute after she and D make a few copies of music and hang out in Mr. E's office for awhile. ;) After some useless practice, everyone heads out to the stands. Yep, it's still broken. It's really hot. D feels the right side of her face getting sun burned. At half time, all bandies are entertained by Tim L's piano playing in the band room. D feels stupid b/c he's waay better than she is. Eventually, Clarence beats Lockport 33-13.

Well, not too much is happening, besides the unbelieveable news that D is *actually* using her band locker, and I've been really busy the past few days! Well, for one thing, we've got this new piece, and it's called Shakata. Oh, and it's ultimatly dumb. Maybe that's just my opinion, but I can see how someone would actually enjoy sitting around for about 100 measures of rests then yelling "shakata" and all this other stuff at the top of your lungs. And then you have to play piccolo on it. And it's out of tune! I can't stand it! Everyone else is either hating it or messing up the rhythms. I really miss the "old" seniors, because they were really good at sightreading. Oh yes, and another newsflash...The website's address will be on the vending machine because Mr. E showed me how to write things on it! (Poodle!)

9-16-00
Pep Band today! Just another highlight of D's pathetic life! Well, today, most of D's rehearsal time was spent in Mr. E's office typing up the sponsor list for the golf outing. So she was shielded by all the the bad chords and nasty national anthems! The scary thing is, is that I'm starting to know where things are in Mr. E's desk. Like this one kid who asked me for the scisor-- you know, the things you cut paper with...and I just automatically open up his desk drawer! It was sorta freaky for me. But, a bandie's gotta do what a bandie's gotta do. Actually, I think I'm kinda getting carried away with this bandie stuff, but it's not my fault, it's Vitello's. He was the original one who called me a bandie, so there! =) The football game really stunk, we lost horribly - 30 some to 14. Everyone was going wild when Clarence scored the only touchdown. I think maybe we were cursed because we were playing the blue devils, and we were the red devils. But I would think that red devils would be eviler than blue ones. Well, that makes no sense at all. Oh, and one more thing before I go - Katey was eating me and Katie's music, so there's a bug chunk missing out of the hey song. And it's all thrown in my locker, so I currently have the messiest band locker. Just another bandish accomplishment for me, I guess...

9-18-00
Today some guy (I forgot his name) from Cornell came to work with the WE on the evilest song - Shakata. He sure "had fun" with the trumpet section! Whew! =) He was nice, and I suppose he helped us a bit, but I really think that he thought we stunk. Wow that's a lot of thinking. Likewise, the whole period was just playing 10 measures then stopping and doing them over 390845793485 times. It was boring since I don't even play until measure 55, and I only play like, 3 notes. So basically I sat there the whole time trying to get some sleep. =) It doesn't even seem like Wind Ensemble anymore. I know I keep saying that and wishing the "old" seniors back, but I really mean it this time. Changing the subject...I managed to have time to write "Band is.cool" on the vending machine display (I couldn't find the space so I had to use a "." between is and cool). Many people helped me today...I had many slaves. ::grin:: That is, until a rather large lunch lady escorted 2 of them off. My whole lunch table (4 people) were down there, along with Drew, Peter and myself of course. Since 2 of the people from my table weren't bandish, they left. I was locating the Cheez-its when this occured. Anyways, I wrote band is cool on the display, but I can't figure out how to choose that as the message to show. I frantically pushed buttons and managed to make "Have a nice day" appear, and since it's cheesy enough, I left it up there. =) Oh, and I also put the cookies in the wrong spot so I charged 3 people 5 cents too much. Ehh, it just benefits the band, I guess. And Drew also found a package of opened M&Ms...hey, that's like the only exciting thing that happens around here! Besides the fact that Mr. Vehar (the choral director) has me singing Soprano 1. I know, I couldn't believe it either.

9-19-00
Well, it seems like we're not going to do Shakata for the fall concert like Mr. Eicher told us...and that's good in one way, and bad in another, I suppose. See, when he handed me the music, I was expecting to really play it...I'm not like, a quitter or anything. And Mr. Eicher's like, oh, you guys are really talented and great and other stuff and we can do this piece and stuff...and then when he takes it away and says we aren't ready for it yet, it's like a slap in the face to me. I know we are still going to do it for the winter or kleinhans concert...but I guess I just think that the Wind Ensemble is unstoppable, and I expect to much out of it. And Mr. E understands that too, and he tried not to make us feel too bad...But I'm not killing myself over it, because I didn't care for the song to begin with! =) No clue as to what we are playing to replace it though. (actually, we're going to play Yiddish Dances). In my opinion, he should have sent out the music to the people in WE when they mailed the band calendars and the handbook. That's what we did last year......when the "old" seniors were here....there I go again about the seniors. If any of you guys are reading this page now, just to let you know, I'm about ready to cut your pics out of the picture in the office and tape them to the chairs!!! =)Well..gotta jet.

9-20-00 Today, one of the band directors found a nice office chair so he took it to the podeum and sat on it. When I walked in everyone was like, so this is what are tax dollars are for! =) Then almost everybody who came in was sitting on it! Vitello had an extremely good time. He sat in it, and it bounced. So he said, Oooh! It bounces! And he was bouncing and bouncing and ::crack:: the back of the chair comes off. Good job, V! The whereabouts of the chair is unknown to band members, but I betcha it's in the back bathroom in the band library where Vitello goes to take a cr--anyways...That's all folks!

9-21-00 This morning was jazz rehearsal. And, as always, D had to mightily push the piano across the band room and move the "gray box thing" (podeum) out of the way (LOL). Just when I thought I was the only piano player, another girl showed up. So I'm like, oh no, I have to audition and my piano teacher is on vacation!! But then as Mr. E got talking he explained that there would be 2 piano players (I guess since I was so bad last year!). So that was a big relief...until another boy walked in wanting to try out. So me and the girl are both like, GRR!! And just when we thought 3 pianists were bad...ANOTHER guy walked in (however he was very good looking, so we really didn't care). So now D is all in a frumble b/c she has to audition!! =( The Open Reahearsal for Wind Ensemble was today also. I suppose it went okay, taking into consideration I played a total of about 10 notes. We stopped like, every 2 beats to work on the littlest thing, and I have about 50 measures of rests in almost every song's beginning, so I was polishing the keys on my piccolo and trying to fall asleep. Mr E was very exact with everything, and then he tells the parents, "this is a normal situation in rehearsal for us", and I bet all the parents are like, wow...they must work their tails off and be extrememly bored in WE! Actually, we just work our tails off and are extrememly entertained by Mr. E. So that's about it today.

9-22-00
Today I had a sectional 4th period...and it was quite...well. I got there a little late b/c I had to get the homework from the class I missed. So the sectional goes along, and sure enough, Mr. E thinks of a weird story to tell us! He starts telling us about this commercial for Dominos pizza that he saw, and, if you've seen it, it's about this teddy bear type thing named "Andy" that uses up all the outlets to run a massagey vibratey chair (and I guess the outlets are supposed to be for some pizza warming thing) and then everything shorts out and explodes. And at the end it says - Bad Andy. Good pizza. So Mr. E was all picking on us and calling us "Andy". So D is just sitting there like, What? Who's Andy? And of course everyone laughs. Over the weekend, I saw the commercial though! =) Me an Lauren think Andy is cute, and Mr. E thinks he's retarded! LOL. There's only one thing left to say today...Bad Andy. Good pizza.

9-25-00
Today, not much happened, except that it was a sluggish monday and I was very grumpy. And I played some "beautiful piccolo solos" for the sarcastic Mr. E. And they sucked. But Tiffany, Me, and Drew played a little prank on Vitello today! We put an M&M box on the toilet seat in the bathroom where Drew claims he "goes to take a crap". That would be funny if he sat on it!!! =)

9-26-00
After setting up the chairs today in WE, I had to go to a field trip to the Buffalo Zoo (which is falling apart) and I couldn't be in band! And I missed my lesson! Fourtunatly, I also missed Gym! YES! No evil Mrs. Printup! =D

9-27-00
Well, the M&M box on Vitello's toilet is gone. I bet when he found it, he shook his head and threw it out knowing we put it there. Oh well. It was funny. And we made up this game with the stands! You have to throw Drew's hacky sack into a groove in a tilted stand to get 1 point, and 2 if it just stays on the stand part. First person to 10 wins. I was practicing.

9-28-00
Today after filling the vending machine, we (Drew, Tiffy (LOL) and D) went into the sm. ensemble room and threw pretzel "nuggets" around the room with Greg, Drew and Pat. We also discussed SATs and Zoos. I didn't eat lunch, so I was starving, but I had lots of fun! And I was supposed to go to a lesson today, but apparently Mrs. Thome thinks that the French Rev. is more important than lessons! And usually I get out of French easily!! =( Oh well.

9-29-00
Oh my gosh today was the funniest day ever!! Ok, first of all it started in sectionals when Ashley told us that Tino had a nipple ring (that was more ew than funny though!) Then me and Barb discussed something that was hilarious in the hall going to 6th period (you know what it is!!!) Then 6th period was the BEST. Ok, so I walk in the room to get the keys for the machine, and Mr. E tells me that they are in the blue room. So as I'm leaving, Vitello says, can you get me a bag of pretzels? and hands me 50 cents. Snickering, I took the money and yelled to Drew and Tiff from across the room - "Vitello wants pretzels!!" because that is totally hilarious if you know the "Vitello Story" about the pretzel rods...So we all burst into laughter. Then I go to the machine and buy them, and I read it, and the bag says - "Tiny Twists", So by this time, we are all crying with laughter as we go into V's office and throw the bag at him...And the best part was, is that Mr. E had the strangest look on his face like - What the hell are you laughing at? I LOVE 6th PER! And after we filled the machine, Tiffy had these disgusting carrots that were all slimy, and Drew was shooting them around the room and one went in the ceiling! Then Patrick came in and we invented another game! It's the "shoot the carrot in the trashcan" game! I look foward to 6th period every day!!! =)
