| Captain Planet was selected for this award because although he is basically the stereotypical superhero he fights not only for the safety of humanity but also for the environment. Captain Planet's power is generated by 5 of the things that make up our planet: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Heart. Unfortunately for Captain Planet his battle for the planet brings him face to face with his only weaknesses, environmentally damaging things such as pollution, radiation, toxic waste and smog, he is also weakened by hatred.. For many years Captain Planet has served as an idol for kids with his crimebusting powers but has also given parents just cause to let them watch as surely his undreakable spirit and desirable motives can only be a good influence on young minds. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
