About Me
This is where I spout about my opinions. If you don't care, then why are you here?
Well, first of all, I'm 16. I grew up in New Hampshire, and Vermont, but now I live in Maryland. I'm homeschooled, which I love, and will be graduating this spring. After that, college, exactly where I'm not sure yet. I know I'll be going to a local college for a year, since my mother doesn't want me going even relatively far away. This is understandable, but I still think it'd be better if I was able to go where I chose, since I've worked hard enough to earn graduating a year early. If you wish to keep updated on my dealings on with college choices, try IMing or emailing me for my current info. I'm still trying to figure out my major, as well, it's been bouncing between political science, philosophy, mathematics, journalism, broadcast journalism, writing, astrophysics, and observational astronomy.
I consider myself a Buddhist, Vietnamese, specifically, although I'm still figuring certain aspects of my life, and philosophy, out. I won't go into my philosophy here, if you want to know, you'll have to track me down and ask me yourself. I love discussing such things with people, it helps me think about them in different lights. Anyway, feel free to IM me. I have Yahoo Messenger, where my id is star_spangled_furball, and I also have AOL Instant Messenger, where my id is shavaunawanna. My e-mail address is [email protected]. I hope to hear from you. Just in case you're thinking this way, I am NOT interested in a relationship, I'm happy with my relationship at the moment. I've had far too many people hear me say this, and then still get upset when I turn them down again. So I shall repeat. I am NOT interested. I'm always looking for new friends, of course, don't misunderstand. But I don't want another romantic relationship. At all. So go away, if you're expecting me to change my mind.
I'm into all sorts of music, everything from oldies, classical, rock, etc etc etc. The only type of music I don't really care for is anything with needless violence (if the artist is trying to make a point, I understand), cussing, insulting women, being generally offensive, that sort of stuff. Usually rap is the only that fits this character, but I also don't like hard rock, given the violence. I've been listening to some metal lately, but I'm still not sure about that yet.
My favorite television show is Dirty Pair, an anime series. For those of you who know what I'm talking about, I prefer the original series, to Flash, although I think I'm the reincarnate of Yuri, from Flash (I'm even considering dying my hair purple). And for those of you who DON'T know what Dirty Pair is, it's not what it sounds. There's very little nudity, and it's an anime series anyway. Flash is the newer re-creation of the Original Dirty Pair series. I'm also an avid watcher of the news. I get my news from various sources, I'll add all the links I can to my links page. Ever since I was little, I always wanted to be a news anchor. Of course, *laughs* I also wanted to be an ice skater, a skiier, a singer, a dancer, an artist, a diplomat, need I go on? Of course I'm not much better now, given my list above. But I digress. The only thing that I don't like about Reuters news service, is how often they use the term "the Bush administration". I guess this is silly, but we're a country, not just an administration. Maybe they're afraid they'll upset the democrats because of the election. Who knows, I don't really care either, but it still kind of irritates me. I feel strongly on most politcal things, and just about everything else as well. Right now I'm rather upset about North Korea, though not for the same reason some people are. 433 people are dying there, daily, in death camps and from hunger forced upon the people by the gov't which claims to be a democracy. The human rights violations are horrific, and very few people (here in the US anyway) are actually aware of what is going on. The UN has seemed considerably silent on the issue. I hope they do something about it soon, though besides removal of the gov't, I'm not sure what they could do. I have friends stationed in S. Korea, I'm the last person who would want to attack N. Korea. But still. 433 people dying daily in horrendous ways is a bit much to just sit idly by about. When it can be helped, of course. And even if it can't, people should KNOW it's going on. MSN was the first news report I saw about it, at all. And I happened upon it by chance. Noone else seems to care. Don't even get me started on Iraq.
I grew up on skis, and love to ski, snowboard, etc. Just about anything involving snow, in fact. Swimming is also something I enjoy. Besides that, drawing, painting, chatting online, doing mind puzzles, playing the flute, piano, or singing, are things I enjoy. And chilling with friends, of course. I dislike ignorance, particularly if it is self inflicted. I'm not terribly fond of sympathy, if someone does something, fully knowing the consequences, they will not receive any passion from me. Sometimes because of this I come off as very uncompassionate and cold. But I'm not really, I just think it's pathetic to purposefully do something you know you'll dislike the results of. I love my friends, and I'm very protective of them. I believe in honor, and loyalty to those who honor you. I don't really believe in set right and wrong, those are simply ideals. But I do believe that if you can help someone (assuming they don't object) you should help. This probably sounds like I'm gloating, but it tends to get me in trouble, so whether it's gloating or whining you can decide for yourself.
I'm very interested in politics. Neither a republican, nor a democrat, I'm an independent. Generally, I'm for as little gov't interference as possible. I'm a firm believer that the increasing amount of laws is related to the decreasing moral aptitutde of the country. Of course, I'm not talking about such things as equal rights, etc, but more silly laws, meant to protect the stupid. Before these laws were passed, problems were solved between people on the local level. Now, they are tried by a court. By doing so, we've lost most of our ability to solve situations and disagreements by ourselves. This is very sad, I think, and I hope more people see this before it truly is too late, and laws designate everything. We are leaning heavily towards socialism, which really is a fine idea (if done correctly, which it wouldn't be, isn't, and cannot be until we change some things about the human species), but we already have enough corruption, need we ask for more?
