Appellations: Kohaku, Kohaku-kun, otouto

Meaning of Name: "Kohaku" means "amber".

Quote: "Help me Sango. I'm so afraid."

Impressions: Kohaku is Sango's younger brother and the son of the okashira (leader) of the taijiya (exterminator) village. He comes across as a very gentle and timorous boy who is perhaps not the fiercest of taijiya. He did his best to become a skilled exterminator, however, and was as enthused as any youngster when his father praised his efforts. He was also obviously very fond of Sango, who in turn acted quite protectively towards Kohaku.

History: When a group of the taijiya was called to do an extermination at a castle, his father took Kohaku along for the first time. During their job at Naraku's castle, he was controlled by the spider demon and killed his father and comrades. Sango didn't understand what happened, but saw a web that was attached to Kohaku's neck and attacked the castle's lord. But Kohaku attacked her with his sickle and got her in the back. After this, he regained his mind and was horrified at what he had done. The castle guards was watching the whole thing, they didn't know what's going on so they shot arrows at the sibling, killing them both

Naraku was not finished with Kohaku yet. He revived the boy by placing a Shikon shard in his flesh, wiped away his memories, and now keeps him as a servant. As for sending Sango off the deep end, there is no more perfect tool than her brother for Naraku, and he enjoys this quite much. Inadvertently Kohaku himself helps Naraku in this, because he knows that he has done something terrible and does not really want to recall what.

Weapons & Attacks: Kohaku wields a kusarigama (a one-handed sickle on a chain) in battle, made of youkai bone and honed to razor sharpness. He was a warrior-in-training and does have a proficient grasp of the weapon.

Things of Note: Currently, Kohaku is alive only because of the fragment of the Shikon no Tama embedded in his back. If it is removed, he will die at once. Also, Naraku keeps him in a state of perpetual amnesia so that he does not remember the atrocity he committed -- but neither does he recall anything about his former life, save for Sango's tearful face which even Naraku's spells could not erase. He knows that she is somehow important to him, even though he cannot remember anything concerning her.

Love Life: As of late, Rin seems to have developed a crush on Kohaku, but how he feels about her is not known. He has protected her from a horde of youkai on one occasion.
