First Let's Review Our Subject Pronouns!
yo
-Itú
-you (familiar/friendly-when talking to a friend or someone your age)Ud (Usted)
-you(formal/respectful-when talking to someone older than you)
él
-heella
-shenosotros
-we (masculine)-we =yourself plus at least one other person
-we is a group of at least 2 people than includes the person who is
speaking
ejemplo: Juana is speaking and says
"we (meaning Juana and her friends) went to the mall"
-masculine we = all males, 1 male + 1 female,
1 male + 2 or more females, etc.
*Spanish is a sexist language so even if there is only 1 male in the group you go with the masculine form!
nosotras
-we (feminine)-all females for the feminine we
vosotros
-you all/you plural *Used in SpainUds (Ustedes)
-you plural/you allellos
-they (masculine)*they = 2 or more people
that contains/has all guys, 1 guy + 1 girl, 1 guy + 2 or more girls, etc.
ellas
-they (feminine)*all female they (2 or more girls)
Ser-to be
This has a "permanent" sense of to be and is used to describe:
La silla es roja. The chair is red.
Ella es cubana. She is Cuban.
Ella es luterana. She is Lutheran.
Ella es alta. She is tall.
Ella es guapa. She is attractive.
Ella es inteligente. She is intelligent.
Ella es cómica. She is funny.
