Check to see if you (the student) are eligible for more money if you declare yourself as independent on taxes even if you still live with your parents. If your parents do not claim you on their taxes, you may have a better opportunity for financial aid

(Lutheran Church, Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, etc.)

Ethnic Groups (German-American groups, etc.)

Other Organizations (Kiwinas, Rotary, Elks, Optimist, etc.)

Other Groups (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.)

Check out the Career Center and Financial Aid Office at the college/university (community colleges too)

Go to the public library and ask the librarian for help in searching for financial aid

Check to see if the college/university has a budgeting service

(A budgeting service requires a small initial fee and allows you to divide the yearly tuition into smaller payments each month)

Walk around the campus, especially the building where your major classes are, and read the bulletin boards

Check with the department for your major (their bulletin board too)

Check out work-study options and paid internship opportunities

Check out on-campus jobs that allow you to study while you work

(these jobs generally do not pay well but are very flexible with your class schedule)

Jobs in the computer lab usually pay better and most schools have at least several computer labs on-campus (in the library and in the various departments)
