FACTS AND FIGURES FROM THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW!
I would like to present to you some facts and figures from "The Andy Griffith Show".
With the number of questions I have been asked about the show, the facts and figures for the show seem to be endless! However, I will list here only some of the interesting facts and figures. If you have other things that you would like to see or have a question, just write to me using my e-mail address at the bottom of this page. Lots of luck to you and yours!
The Andy Griffith Show has never gone out of syndication (never gone off the air) since its premier episode in 1960! No other TV show has been in syndication longer!
There were 159 black-and-white episodes and 90 color episodes making it a grand total of 249 episodes.
Although Goober and Gomer were cousins, they only appeared in one episode together! (Episode #123, the original Fun Girls episode)
Although it is known that Andy is a widower, no mention is ever made of his wife's name or how she died.
Several people played different characters on the show or unexplicably had their charcter's names changed slightly. For example Howard Morris played Ernest T. Bass in 5 episodes, a TV repairman in one episode, and was also the voice of Leonard Blush on the radio! Want to know a few more of these...just e-mail me and I will send you a few.
Many big stars made appearances on an episode or two. Here are a few: Buddy Ebsen (from The Beverly Hillbillies), Alan Hale, Jr. (from Gilligan's Island), Bill Bixby (from the Incredible Hulk and several TV movies), Barbara Eden (from I Dream of Jeanie), James Best (from the Dukes of Hazzard), Don Rickles (famous comedian), Jerry Van Dyke (most recently from Coach), Teri Garr (from several major motion pictures), and even more!
The results of a few different polls consistently rank episode #77, "Man in a Hurry", as the number one episode of the Andy Griffith Show.
