| Possible male Scaup � Ring-necked Duck at Borax Lake, Lake County, CA, 26 February 2006. Unfortunately the photo is blurry and few details can be seen. Note the dark back and light gray sides, both typical of Ring-necked Duck. However, the bird lacked the vertical white bar on the side (typical of Ring-necked Duck) and the head, seen briefly on 18 and 26 February, resembled a scaup. Another possibility is that the bird was a masculinized female scaup. |
