ROCK CLIMBING

BOULDERING AT LA SIERRA, RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
In 1990 I frequently bouldered while attending nearby La Sierra University and occasionally returned during subsequent years. Scattered bolts indicated an unpublished history of climbs. The lower boulders are a popular partying site and in recent years some of the climbs have become harder by paint at the base of the climbs. There are potentially more climbs at this site and on boulders farther up the hill. The topos below illustrate 22 climbs that I named and rated using the Yosemite Decimal System (as in nearby Mt. Rubidoux) and more recent Vermin system (bouldering). The best climbs are indicated with an asterisk. Any feedback would be appreciated.

DIRECTIONS
To access the boulders, take the Magnolia Avenue exit southbound or the Pierce Street exit northbound along I-91 and proceed west on Pierce Street, which becomes Riverwalk Parkway. Turn left on Sierra Vista Avenue and turn right on Orion Street. Park at the end of Orion and follow a path up and left along the edge of a fence to the boulders.
