FLOYD ROCK CLIMBING WITH FRIENDS IN TUOLUMNE MEADOWS

On August 6, 2004, I climbed FAIRVIEW DOMENORTH FACE REGULAR ROUTE IV 5.9, a long and fairly difficult route in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, CA, with David Regal. We were climbing with a party ahead of us, including Ryan Tetz, Sean Otis and Ann Reynolds. I first climbed this route with Greg Achenbach on 16 July 1985, when it seemed much easier! On this occasion I led all but one of ten pitches in 1,400 feet of roped climbing on a face about 900 feet tall. For more details on these climbs, click here.
My climbing partners, left to right: Sean Otis, Ryan Tetz, David Regal (my rope partner) and Ann Reynolds.

After six pitches of moderately strenuous climbing, David pauses on a ledge.

Celebrating at the summit of Fairview Dome, 9731 feet high.
