FAMILY VISIT TO DOG ISLAND, ST. THOMAS, US VIRGIN ISLANDS
In June and July 2003, I visited this small island several times to study variation and interbreeding in a mixed breeding colony of Sandwich and Cayenne Terns (Sterna sandvicensis acuflavida / eurygnatha). On a few occasions I took Brett and once we were accompanied by Marta. We had lots of fun taking a small boat through big waves, tying up on a buoy and snorkeling to shore and back in waters reputedly infested with sharks (we saw none).
