I shot a dirty look at my father as he walked into the kitchen.

I looked through the boxes for my sweaters. They were all over the
floor. And they all looked the same.."Kyle can you come help me?" I
called from the room I was in. Unpacking was horrible. But I was
excited so it didn't bother me. Our own place. It was small..two
bedrooms and one bath. Just right. We had a nice veiw from our room
too. I smiled..looking through a box of pictures. They were mostly
of Kyle and his family..some were of us though. I flipped through
them..Letting my mind wander back to California..It seemed so long
ago..

slammed my hand down on my alarm clock. It was Saturday..so I should
be here with my very pregnant girlfriend. But no I gotta work. I
rolled over and watched her sleeping.."I love you Ria.."..I
whispered and kissed her cheek before getting out of bed and taking
a shower. Maybe I would ask her tonight. I'd been thinking about it
enough. Just never seemed right. Before she has our kid..Yeah. I'll
ask her tonight. Make her something cool to eat..Or maybe just bring
something home. I smiled and turned the water cold so I could wake
up..

I heard Tess and followed her voice. I saw her looking at pictures
and walked up behind her. I slid my arms around her waist. "What you
need baby?" I asked kissing the back of her head. I rubbed my hands
over her stomach, slipping one under her top to rest against her
soft skin.

slowly started to wake up. I heard the shower going. I didn't want
to get up yet. I wanted to sleep for a few more hours. I laid there
a little longer, unable to fall back asleep. I climbed out of bed
and pulled on one of Michael's t-shirts and boxers. I stumbled
through the bedroom into the kitchen. I poured a glass of orange
juice and jumped up on the counter, resting my hand on my stomach.

Actually I'd been feeling weird a lot all week. I put off taking a

got out of the shower..drying off and walking back to our room. She
was out of bed? It's 6am on a Saturday. I sighed.looking through the
closet for something to wear. I got dressed and walked into the

anything but sweet lately. I poured myself a cup of coffee.

could just get married again, bigger wedding, have Maria and Michael
come. Then you can have all the pictures that you want." I kissed
her softly. I loved her more than anything, I just wanted to make

that one." I said pointing to one of the boxes labled Tess' Clothes.

I looked past him.."No way! That wasn't there before I swear"..I
laughed and walked past him, kneeling down by the box. I opened it
and pulled out a blue sweater. I took my shirt off and changed into

kitchen was full of boxes too. I made sure we went shopping and I
ended up buying the whole store.."I think I put them in there.." I
pointed to the cubord over his head. Something tasted funny in my

There was blood coming out of my mouth. I looked up at him, scared

heard her say my name. I turned around and looked at her and saw the
blood. "Oh shit." I cupped her face looking at her. "You ok baby?
What happened?" Seeing the blood was scaring the hell out of

I followed her down to the bathroom. "Shit Tess. I'm taking you to
the hospital." I hated blood. Especially if I didn't know why it was
there. I was so worried, I didn't want to drive, afraid I'd wreck
the car and kill us both or something. I grabbed my cell and called
911. They said they were seding an ambulance and I knelt down beside
her rubbing her back. "You'll be fine baby." I told her.

hung up the phone and sighed quietly. I really hoped he'd be off
early. I curled back up on the couch and drifted back off to sleep.
Thinking about Michael, and the baby, and how happy I was. Happier
than I'd ever been. Granted my life wasn't perfect, but it didn't
matter, I was happy, and I loved him. That was all that mattered to
me.

hall and got a cup of coffee. Then back into the waiting room. I sat
there, staring at the wall. What was going on? Why didn't she tell
me something was wrong? The doctor said she'd stopped taking her
medication. What was wrong with her? Why didn't she ever tell me?

I sat up after he left. And I talked to some doctor I'd never met
before. About something I never told anyone. My father knew of
course. But I never felt the need to tell anyone else. It wasn't a
big deal.."The medicine makes me crazy.." I said through my crying.
The thought of having to tell Kyle was bad enough. But crazy drugged
up Tess? No, I'd rather bleed to death.."I undertand your concerns
Mrs. Valenti but you have to take them. You're only hurting yourself

talked forever. Trying to calm me down. Using small words and making
me feel stupid. Like I haven't been living with this my whole life..
I stared at the iv in my arm.."Can I go now doctor?" I asked, not

time I let her go. I smiled down at her..kissing her forehead. This
