| Temple of the Dog |
| Formed - 1990 Disbanded - 1990 Temple of the Dog is a tribute CD to Mother Love Bone's vocalist, Andrew Wood who died from a heroin overdose in 1990. Jeff Ament (bassist) and Stone Gossard (geetarist) formerly of Mother Love Bone, joined up with Chris Cornell (vocals of the band Soundgarden) and Matt Cameron (drums also from Soundgarden), to record the tribute album. The CD also contains contributions from Eddie Vedder (vocals) and Mike McCready (geetarist, Pearl Jam). The album Temple of the Dog was released on A&M records in 1991, but did not chart in America, until the summer of 1992, when Pearl Jam became famous. Following the success of Pearl Jam, A&M records released the song 'Hunger Strike' fromTemple of the Dog as a video and single. Temple of the Dog went platinum in America at the end of '92. In my opinion, I don't think you could get a better band line up during the early 90s. Every musician involved with the Temple of the Dog project is well known and well respected for their musical ability. There are some really great tracks on the CD such as Wooden Jesus which is my favourite. Personally I would have liked Temple of the Dog to become a more temporary band and side project for the bands Soundgarden and Pearl Jam as they are two of my favourite bands. I recommend you listen to Wooden Jesus if you want to try out Temple of the Dog. |
