Spirit

She stands and the wind blows through her hair,
leaving her neck and shoulders bare,
She stares down into the mist,
eyes glazed, hands clenched in a fist,
She said shed be fine but she lied,
the voice calls to her from the other side,

                        Chorus:
She stands on the bridge all alone,
her mother waits by the phone,
Her friends dont know where she could be,
her boyfriend whispers Please come back to me,
But they dont understand, they just cant see,
that her spirit is longing to be free,

And all she ever wanted was just to get away,
but trapped here in this city shes dying day by day,
At any cost her soul must find release,
even though her body will rest in peace,
She must live out her dreams, soar through the sky,
but stuck down on the earth, shes doomed to die,

                        (Chorus)

She takes one last look at this broken world,
into which we are so absently hurled,
Her hearts been cut as if by a knife,
she takes one step forward to leave this life,
The starlit night sky is a lure,
                        the emptiness encloses her,

Now her friends and family cry,
but it doesnt matter, for now she can fly . . .
