The Enslavement of the Heart

You have conquered, I admit it,
like a confession extracted on the rack,
I am broken in the way a wild horse,
finally gives up her spirit and despairs,
My tearstained face reveals the salty scars,
of the desecration of my internal being
the shredded mind, crumpled will,
enslaved soul, and the assasination of hope,
My heart obligitorily thrust into caustic hands,
shattered and reforged continually on a whim,
Now disfigured from myriad persecutions,
it exists undead, rotting like a zombie,
or the monster that a mad scientist,
stitched together from fresh corpses,
I surrender to you, as bitter as that may be,
like a king after all his heirs are slain,
The futility of my struggles is palpable,
just as a marionette might tangle,
trying to escape the strings that animate her,
I am submitted to torture under your calculating eyes,
as indifferent and disdainful as the stars,
You have overmastered me, I wearily confess,
I had faith that you were the most laudable ideal,
But your treachery was revealed at midnight,
when all the archetypes dropped their masks,
Your callous face and smirking eyes,
pricked a fear deeper than darkest dreams,
And Deaths face was more compelling,
as you engorged my heart until sorely tender,
and drained my senses of all discernment,
Your cynical laugh echoed as you tossed me,
among the jagged rocks and poisoned spines,
where I stumbled, anguished because your infusion,
relentlessly drew me, joyfully, to my doom,
Suicide of the heart, fixated on the source of pain,
Through your blinders I can see only beauty,
a mirage of self-delusion to numb the acute pain,
as I discovered the world to be made of broken glass,
I beg of you, in my loathsome disgrace,
to still my cold heart and allow my death,
I have traded my pride, serving you blindly,
Throwing myself unconditionally into the thorns,
until no longer able to stir, I am left cruelly alone,
still with the twitching desire to revisit the old pain,
So, diminished as I am, with your spell over me,
even now battling against my will and reason,
Helpless, I weep, hailing the heinous truth,
Love conquers all.
