Dreamscape

Last night I followed a unicorn into the Realm of Dreams,
where magic floats upon the air, and nothing is as it seems,
I made myself fairy small in my curiosity,
a new perspective in a new world is what I wished to see,
I rode naked on the wings of a brilliant butterfly,
who I caught and leapt onto as she was passing by,
We fluttered over fields and among the leaves of trees,
chasing moths and fireflies or in pursuit of fairies,
And I slid along the petals of the white moonflower,
when we passed over that milky midnight bower,
Then we finally landed where enchantment is born,
and I stood on the tip of a unicorn's horn.
I waved farewell and spiraled down that shaft of light,
as the wondrous unicorn began prancing in the night,
I returned to my true size and leapt into the sky,
I caught a shooting star as it was passing by,
and then I braided it into the unicorn's mane,
where it glistened clearly like a crystalline chain,
A pegasus swooped down to become my next steed,
and again from my own wingless weight I was freed,
We flew among clouds floating in heavenly blue,
and I leapt off, wrapping myself in a rainbow's hue,
I trailed the bright colors behind me like a banner,
landing on my mount once more, we soared on in this manner,
We pierced through the firmament, now among celestials,
I dismounted from my wingd steed to join in cosmic festivals,
I danced among the stars and slid down the moon's bow,
And when I left I skipped along it's luminary glow,
The moonlight led me through a scintillating stellar ocean,
and guided me to earth with smooth gliding motion,
Now I have sung with sylphs of the air and sirens by the sea,
I dove one time with dolphins who swirled in play with me,
I have ridden on sea horses, delicate but grand,
who swam me through the ocean and back to the land.
I have waited at night, when none were awake,
for the swan-maidens to alight on their secret lake,
I have watched them shed their cloaks of feathery wings,
and danced with them, unclad, while the nightingale sings,
I have dozed with the unicorn in meadows fresh and fair,
and strung nameless magical flowers into his and my hair,
I have kissed enchantment and been charmed for eternity,
I have reveled in Elysium and embraced a fantasy,
I have listened enraptured to the music of the fairy folk,
and kept its harmonies with me since the time that I awoke,
Remembering that blessed realm, I cannot help but laugh,
knowing that my feet have touched the mystical moon-path.
