The Jones Family Reunion at Hernando Beach, Florida, November 22-25, 2001, was enjoyed by all who attended.

Brenda Starnes was the first to arrive from out of town Wednesday evening. She came bearing gifts of turkey, hame, wine and cake.

Thanskgiving Dinner was held on the second story lanai at the home of Jimmy & Ellen Jones. The table was set with a red table cloth and beautiful fall flowers. Golden brown turkey and spiral honey baked ham (baked by Tracy Sommise) were served will all the trimmings. Syble Jones brought all the ingredients and made a delicious coleslaw salad. Nevylon Ray brought corn bread dressing, a vegetable casserole, pumpkin pie, and a red velvet cake.

After dinner a group went to Roger's Christmas House in Brooksville. Later that evening there was a card game. It was great fun.

The fishing trip Friday morning was piloted by Devin Sommise. The boat left Jimmy Jones' dock at 7 a.m. On board was Paul Wayne, Tracy Sommise and Chris Jones. Fishing was also done from the seawall in the canal. A fish was caught by Nicholas Williams.

Friday evening Jimmy Jones cooked one of his specialties: shrimp, new potatoes and corn on the cob all cooked together in seafood spices.

Paul Smith brought his father's Bibles and shared them with us. David Hand brough pictures of his mother. There were lots of pictures and memories shared.

Saturday morning there was another fishing trip piloted by Jimmy Jones. The crew was Paul Smith, Cody Williams and David Hand. No fish were caught but everyone enjoyed the ride on the Gulf of Mexico.

While the fishmen were gone the others blew up balloons and decorated for the family gathering.

The family gathering was held at Jimmy Jones' home. The tables was decorated with teal table cloths and navy napkins. The centerpiece was a two foot vase filled with candy kisses and decorated with dolphins.

There were fish bowls filled with blue Jello-O and fish shaped fruit. Chips and sandwiches were served wtih anti-pasta salad. Deserts were brownies and peach cobbler. There was also an ice cream cake to celebrate Paul Smith's birthday.

There was  boat ride to feed the birds on the canal. Pelicans and seagulls enjoyed a dinner of fish and squid.

The children (and some parents) tattooed themselves with dolphins and tried to fly a dolphin kit but the wind had died down. The dolphin hunt uncovered hidden craft treasures for each of the children.

There wa s romantic sunset boat ride Saturday evening. Dolphins were sptted swimming in the Gulf.

A Sunday morning breakfast was enjoyed at Nelly's restaurant before everyone started their trip back home.

Family History
Kelley Sharkey, daughter of Vickie and Bobby Sharkey, married Shamus Pons on November 3, 2001. The church was filled to capacity. The reception was held at Claire's on the Corner in Amite, Lousiana. The newly weds will reside in Covington, Louisiana.

Rachel Leilani Mau was born December 9, 2001. Laura, daughter of Doris Lind, and Mike Mau's new daughter weiged 7 pounds 11 ounces.

Lawton, son of Winifred Jones Vaughn, and Stephanie Taylor are expecting their second child in May 2002.

Freeman Jones, age 83, passed away on January 18, 2002.
