Sarasota-Manatee Chapter

The Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) was founded 30 years ago. It has about 400 members, and is presently the largest of the 12 chapters in Florida.

The Chapter's parent body, the UNA-USA, is a nationwide non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit organization which works on educational, research, and advocacy programs in support of international peace and justice through the United Nations system. Its financial support comes from membership dues, donations, grants, and similar private sources. It receives no operational funds from the UN or from the US or any other Government.

The Sarasota-Manatee Chapter is also a member of Florida Division of UNA-USA, along with the other nine chapters in the State. Florida Division promotes sharing of speakers, mutual assistance, formation of new chapters, coordination of projects. UNA-USA, its divisions and chapters address such global issues as collective security, environment and development, human rights, and the international economy. With over 25,000 members, the UNA-USA develop common positions on issues that are considered at the national level. In addition to The InterDependent, quarterly published by the UNA-USA, and the UNA Florida Division 's newsletter, the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter issues a monthly newsletter, The UNA Reporter.
