The Brevard Chapter, headed by its new president, Marla Brick-Suiter, adopted the Freshwater theme for its 2003 work program. Recent activities included meetings on "Global Water Quality" with by Dr. James Philips (March 1), "Creation of a World Seas Organization" by Dr. George A. Paul (April 12) and "Florida Freshwater Resources and Management" by Mr. Chris Koeppel (May 3)

. Sarasota-Manatee Chapter plans to organize a Model UN conference for Adults (SMMUNA) for the Celebration of UN Day in 2003. The participants include personalities from diverse local communities, known for their interests, knowledge and experience in international issues. SMMUNA will simulate a UN Security Council session on the Israel-Palestine conflict on 24 October 2003, at the Sudakoff Conference Center, Sarasota.

Encouraged by the Tampa Bay Chapter, students of the St. Pete High School hosted a car show at the school track on Saturday, April 5, 2003, to fundraise for the clearance of landmines.
Two hundred students from high and middle schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties gathered at USF Marshall Center to debate world issues as part of the Global Classrooms Program (GCP). Amb. Bill Luers, President and CEO of UNA-USA New York, addressed the opening session. The GCP is sponsored by UNA National and Tampa Bay Chapter, with Tom Cook as directing Consultant and Judy Hoffman Vice President for education.

The Greater Orlando Chapter has just elected a new Board of Directors at its annual meeting on May 17, 2003. These include John Benson as President, Dr. Houman Sadri (first vice-president), Alma Gray (second vice-president) Saltana Ali (Secretary), Heather Thompson (Treasurer) and eight other members of the Board. We would like to congratulate all board members on their election and to particularly welcome the new president and first vice-president to our Florida Division Board of Directors

Florida High Schools Model UN

The Florida High Schools Model United Nations (FHSMUN) Conference XXIV met in the Orlando area from March 14 to 17, 2003. There were 285 delegates from twenty schools across the state. Several conference rooms in the Altamonte Springs Hilton Hotel were used to provide meetings for student groups representing various UN agencies and organizations. The following schools participated in FHSMUN XXIV:

Lauderdale.
