Sarasota-Manatee Chapter

A successful fundraising! As a fundraising event for Model UN, the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter presented a documentary film showing about the distinguished American Dr. Ralph Bunche on April 28, 2002 at the Asolo Theatre in Sarasota. Dr. Bunche, a former top official at the United Nations and holder of a Nobel Peace Prize, was known as one of the most brilliant humanitarians of our time. A reception was given after the film that was attended by more than 200 people. With a contribution of $35 from each participant, the Chapter had a net profit of around $4000.

Tampa Bay Chapter

Congratulations! Tampa Bay Chapter did an outstanding job in helping the Florida Division organize the 2002 Convention at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. The Board of Directors thanks the Tampa Bay Chapter for providing participants with excellent facilities and outstanding key speakers for the meetings. Special thanks are extended to all members of the Convention organization committee, particularly President Paul Yingst and Vice-President Jeffrey Maddux of the Tampa Bay Chapter, for their exceptional work.

Gainesville Chapter

No summer break in Gainesville Chapter! The Board of Directors of the Gainesville Chapter has been busy looking for a good location for the next Florida Convention scheduled for February 28 through March 2, 2003. The Holiday Inn in Gainesville appears to be the first choice of the Convention Committee. We would like to express our thanks to members of the Committee, especially President Carol Willis, Robert Hornberger and Nancy Sever, for their valuable efforts.

Tallahassee Chapter

Congratulations! We have been informed the newly created Tallahassee Chapter will soon hold monthly meetings. The Florida Division will strongly support the Chapter and provide it with advice and assistance necessary for its development.
