FLORENCE COUNTY CITIZENS IN ACTION

MAY 22, 2007

The May 22, 2007 meeting of the Florence County Citizens in Action was held at 6:00 p.m. at Florence Bible Chapel with 12 members present. Chairman Licia Stone opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Dean Fowler led Pledge of Allegiance.

Brenda Gibson read minutes from April meeting.

Licia Stone introduced our guest speaker, DHEC employee Keith Lane from the S C Dept Bureau of Land and Waste. Mr. Lane is Manager of the Solid Waste Program and Emergency Response Program for our eleven county area. Mr. Lane 's impressive knowledge of solid waste and landfill requirements spurred many questions from members. Incineration was discussed as possible energy.

Licia Stone still has not received information on Florence County Council wage increase. She is pursuing further action.

Lou Vause gave update on petition drive. We had a very successful drive at Bilo's on Pamplico Highway .

We now have 5,087 signatures. Drives are set up for Lake City and Florence .

Our next meeting will be June 26, 2007 , @ 6 o'clock at Florence Bible Chapel, 1400 Second Loop Road, Corner of Woods Road and Second Loop, Florence , S C 29505.

There will not be a July or August meeting.
